How Admissions Work

MSc and PhD applicants follow separate processes. For MSc admission, the official requirements call for a BSc from an accredited institution, or final-year status toward that degree, with a usual minimum average of 85 or its equivalent. Mathematics and computer science normally require 90; applicants below that level may submit a written case for consideration. Life-science applicants below 85 may also be considered when they append an explanation. Meeting a published threshold does not guarantee admission, and individual academic boards may use interviews or examinations. For the next MSc cycle published as of August 2026, the application system is expected to open in November 2026. Listed deadlines are February 28, 2027 for life sciences; March 31, 2027 for physics, chemistry, and mathematics and computer science; and April 18, 2027 for the research track in science teaching. Applicants should recheck these dates when the system opens. No application fee is charged. International MSc applicants generally do not need GRE, TOEFL, or IELTS results unless the relevant Board of Studies requests them. PhD applicants normally need a thesis-based MSc, an MD, or another specifically accepted qualification. They must secure a qualified Weizmann adviser and include that adviser’s support before review. External applicants are assessed through previous study, research achievements, recommendations, and an interview. PhD applications may be submitted throughout the year with no general deadline.
