Student Life & Environment

Student life is connected to the broader Tampere Universities community while retaining TAMK-specific support structures. New students receive help from student tutors, who assist with orientation, social adjustment, and familiarity with their field. Teacher tutors provide continuing academic guidance, and students who need support because of a disability, illness, or learning difficulty may request individual study arrangements. Tamko, TAMK’s statutory students’ union, represents student interests and organizes community activity. Students can also use Tampere University Library services, including the TAMK Main Campus library, and SportUni facilities across three campuses. The setting is especially relevant to health-care students because clinical and simulation facilities are located around the hospital and Kauppi education cluster. Mediapolis is in Tohloppi, about six kilometres from the city centre. It concentrates on media content production and ICT and hosts approximately 600 media students. Programme location therefore matters: applicants should check whether their studies are based at Kauppi, Mediapolis, online, or in a blended format before choosing housing. Tampere’s bus, tram, and local-train network links the campuses with residential areas. The city combines an established student population with lakes, green spaces, and cultural activity. Travel time and cost will depend on the chosen neighborhood, and students should not assume that university-arranged housing is available near their teaching site.

Costs & Career Outcomes

TAMK’s official tuition page listed a tuition fee of €12,000 per academic year for all degree programmes as of August 2026. Liability generally applies to citizens outside the EU, EEA, and Switzerland studying in English-taught bachelor’s or master’s degrees, although specified residence statuses and family circumstances can create exemptions. Because Finnish residence-permit rules changed in December 2024 and assessments depend on permit history, applicants should use the official exemption guidance rather than infer liability from nationality alone. The fee does not replace normal living expenses, housing, travel, insurance, or study-related purchases. TAMK describes scholarship support as partial tuition-fee waivers. Terms can depend on admission timing, cohort, academic progress, and, for some continuing bachelor’s students, Finnish-language development.
