About Plekhanov University (PRUE)
Plekhanov Russian University of Economics was founded in 1907 as the Moscow Commercial Institute, financed by merchants, bankers and manufacturers at the initiative of Moscow merchant Alexei Vishnyakov, and it was one of the first institutions in Russia to offer higher business education. It took the name of the economist Georgi Plekhanov in 1924 and its current name in 2010, and it has since absorbed the Russian State University of Trade and Economics and the Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics.
The main campus is on Stremyanny Lane in central Moscow, close to Serpukhovskaya, Dobryninskaya and Paveletskaya metro stations. Teaching is organised into higher schools, including the Higher School of Economics and Business, Higher School of Finance, Higher School of Management, Higher School of Law, Higher School of Creative Industries, Higher School of Cyber Technologies, Mathematics and Statistics, and the Foresight school for talented students. Most degrees are taught in Russian, but several bachelor's programmes, including Finance and Credit and Marketing, run fully in English.
Plekhanov suits students aiming for careers in finance, business, marketing or hospitality in Moscow; its graduates include finance ministers, bank executives and some of Russia's wealthiest business owners.
