About Taipei Tech
Taipei Tech was founded in 1912 as the Auxiliary Industrial Institute, with three departments: woodcraft, metalwork and electrical engineering. It was one of the first schools of industrial education in Taiwan. It became the Provincial Taipei Institute of Technology in 1948, offering five-year associate programmes, and gained university status as National Taipei University of Technology in 1997. More than 90,000 students have graduated since 1912.
Today it has about 13,300 students and 488 full-time faculty in six colleges: Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Engineering, Management, Design, and Humanities and Social Sciences. It focuses on technology, design and management, with strong links to industry. Its compact main campus sits on Zhongxiao East Road in Da'an District, next to the Zhongxiao Xinsheng metro station.
Most bachelor's programmes are taught in Chinese, and international applicants need TOCFL scores. English-taught options at bachelor's level include the International Bachelor Program of Interaction Design and Innovation and a semiconductor programme for Japanese students run with TSMC's training centre. Taipei Tech suits practically minded engineering, design and business students who want a hands-on, industry-connected degree in the centre of Taipei at low public-university fees.
