About Unpad
Universitas Padjadjaran was established in 1957 in Bandung, the capital of West Java. Its name comes from the historic Sundanese kingdom of Pakuan Padjadjaran. Since 1977 the university has developed its main campus at Jatinangor, east of Bandung, where the rectorate moved officially in 2012; the older Dipati Ukur campus remains in the city.
Unpad reports about 38,000 enrolled students and more than 900 international students (October 2025), in 16 faculties plus a Graduate School and a Vocational School. Its strengths span medicine and health sciences, law, economics and business, communication, social and political sciences, agriculture, fisheries and marine science, and the natural sciences. As a legal entity state university it has academic and institutional autonomy.
International students can take regular programmes taught in Indonesian, supported by Bahasa Indonesia for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) courses, or the International Undergraduate Program (IUP), taught mainly in English with exchange and double-degree options. It suits students who want an Indonesian public university with English-taught professional degrees, particularly in medicine, dentistry, business and international relations. International tuition for 2026-27 runs from IDR 17 million to IDR 50 million per semester, depending on the programme.

Why students choose Unpad
The International Undergraduate Program teaches degrees such as Medicine, Dentistry, Law, Accounting, Management and International Relations mainly in English.
Several IUP degrees offer double degrees, for example Accounting with Northern Illinois University (2+2), the University of Northampton (3+1) or the University of Queensland (3+1).
The IUP Accounting programme is internationally accredited by FIBAA, and students can earn AWS, LinkedIn Learning and Google certifications during their studies.
In September 2026 Unpad welcomed 181 new international students from 24 countries.

Selectivity
Unpad does not publish an admission rate. IUP places are limited per programme (for example 30 to 65 places in the 2025 intake), and later IUP rounds open only if quota remains.

Unpad has not yet published IUP dates for the 2027-28 intake. In the 2026 cycle the first batch ran from 12 January to 9 March and the second from 1 April to 7 May; expect the first 2027 batch to open around January.
How to apply
Apply online through Unpad's international admission portal for the IUP batch that is open, uploading transcripts, diploma, English test result, passport and photo. Successful applicants are announced about a week after the batch closes and then complete online registration and biodata updates.
What admissions looks for
- Solid high school results, shown through transcripts from grades 10 to 12 and the final diploma.
- English proficiency at or above the published minimum (IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 500 in the 2025 guidelines) for English-taught IUP programmes.
- For Indonesian applicants, national exam or UTBK scores and school report cards; international applicants can add results such as IGCSE or A-levels.
- Early application, since places per programme are capped and later batches open only if seats remain.
Tips for applying to Unpad
- 1 Apply in the first batch (January to March in 2026): later rounds open only when quota remains.
- 2 Budget for the one-time institutional development fee as well as tuition: for Medicine it was 195 million rupiah on top of 50 million per semester in 2026-27.
- 3 Check whether your programme is a double degree: Accounting and Management, for example, have 2+2 or 3+1 routes with partners in the US, UK, Australia or Switzerland.
- 4 If you are from a developing country, look at the Indonesian government's KNB Scholarship and the TIAS scholarship, both available at Unpad.

International undergraduates can apply for the Indonesian government's Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship and the Indonesian Aid Scholarship (TIAS), which covers IUP bachelor's programmes such as International Relations, Business Administration, Accounting, Management, Digital Business and Communication Science for citizens of priority countries (applicants up to age 25). The Unpad ASEAN Scholarship funds master's study for ASEAN citizens.

Student life
Most undergraduates study at the large Jatinangor campus east of Bandung, a university district where Unpad's faculties relocated from 1983 onwards; some units remain at the Dipati Ukur campus in the city. New international students start with an International Student Orientation at the Jatinangor Rectorate, and regular-programme students can take BIPA Indonesian classes. IUP students get exchange, internship and study-abroad options with partner universities, and the Sundanese cultural setting of West Java is part of daily life.

Location
Unpad's main campus is in Jatinangor, Sumedang Regency, at Km 21 on the Bandung–Sumedang road east of Bandung, where faculties began relocating in 1983 and the rectorate moved in 2012. The older Dipati Ukur campus is in Bandung itself, the capital of West Java Province. Jatinangor is effectively a student town, and international students arrive for orientation at the Rectorate building there.
