About Mahidol
Mahidol University traces its origins to Siriraj Hospital, founded in 1888 by King Chulalongkorn, whose medical school is the oldest institution of higher learning in Thailand and awarded its first medical degree in 1893. It became the University of Medical Sciences in 1943 and was renamed in 1969 by King Bhumibol Adulyadej after his father, Prince Mahidol of Songkla, known as the father of modern medicine and public health in Thailand. It became an autonomous university in 2007.
Medicine and the health sciences remain its core: faculties include Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Tropical Medicine, Public Health, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Nursing, alongside science, engineering, ICT, liberal arts, music and many research institutes. The university says it offers more doctoral programmes than any other institution in Thailand.
For international applicants the main undergraduate route is Mahidol University International College (MUIC) on the Salaya campus, which runs international programmes on a trimester calendar, requires English-proficiency scores from every applicant and offers majors in business, science, engineering, communication, design, the humanities and international relations. MUIC suits students who want a Thai base with an international student body, strong English-language teaching and several intakes a year.

Why students choose Mahidol
Mahidol grew out of Siriraj Hospital's medical school, the oldest institution of higher learning in Thailand, and medicine and public health remain its best-known fields.
Mahidol University International College runs international undergraduate programmes with majors from finance and computer engineering to communication design and international relations.
MUIC runs three intakes a year (September, January and April), and overseas applicants can apply in several windows.
