Student Life & Environment

XMUM provides a residential campus environment in which academic, housing, dining, and recreational facilities are within walking distance. The official accommodation page lists furnished on-campus rooms, shared pantries with a microwave, refrigerator, and water dispenser, laundry facilities, adjacent canteens, and 24-hour security. A five-storey Student Activity Centre contains dining and retail options as well as a gym, swimming pool, and prayer rooms. Electricity may be charged separately for air-conditioned rooms, so students should confirm the current room rate and utility terms before accepting housing. The Extra-Curricular Activities Department reported more than 60 active clubs and societies in 2025–2026. International students should note a significant housing rule: the university’s current international admissions guidance requires them to live in the on-campus hostel for at least their first year. Location & Surroundings

The campus is at Jalan Sunsuria, Bandar Sunsuria, 43900 Sepang, Selangor. This is a purpose-built suburban campus near Malaysia’s principal international airport rather than a central Kuala Lumpur location. The university estimates travel times of about ten minutes by car to Kuala Lumpur International Airport, fifteen minutes to Putrajaya, and five minutes to the Salak Tinggi station on the Express Rail Link. That setting offers practical advantages for international travel and access to Malaysia’s administrative capital. Salak Tinggi rail connections can also provide onward access toward Kuala Lumpur, although students should confirm current schedules, fares, and first- and last-mile transport. Daily life can be campus-centered because residences, classrooms, laboratories, the library, dining, recreation, and basic retail are grouped together. Applicants who want a dense city-center environment should compare the Sepang location carefully with campuses inside Kuala Lumpur. Those who prefer residential convenience may value the integrated layout, but travel for off-campus entertainment, specialist shopping, or employment can require planning. International students should also account for the first-year on-campus residence rule when considering location and commuting options.

Costs & Career Outcomes

XMUM publishes separate Malaysian and international rates. For new entrants in academic year 2026, annual undergraduate tuition varies by programme. Examples include RM26,000 for Malaysian students in English language and literature, RM28,000 for several business degrees, RM30,000 for computer science and technology, and RM29,000 for traditional Chinese medicine. Corresponding international rates in those examples are generally RM1,000 higher per year. These examples illustrate the range and should not replace the programme-specific fee table. The 2026 administrative schedule lists a non-refundable application and registration fee of RM300 for Malaysians and RM318 for international students, a RM100 hostel application fee, and a refundable RM500 hostel deposit. International students also pay a RM1,000 refundable security deposit and an annual RM2,650 international-student fee. A 6% Sales and Service Tax has applied to higher-education services for non-Malaysian citizens since 1 July 2025.
