About WUT
Warsaw University of Technology traces its roots to the Preparatory School for the Polytechnic Institute, opened on 4 January 1826 by Stanisław Staszic, and became the first Polish technical university in 1915. It celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2025/26. Today it has 20,953 students, 865 doctoral candidates and 5,055 staff, and is organised into faculties covering almost every branch of engineering and technology, from Architecture and Electronics and Information Technology to Power and Aeronautical Engineering, Transport and Geodesy, plus a branch in Płock.
Most degrees are taught in Polish and are free for Polish and EU/EFTA students on full-time programmes. For international students, the International Students Office runs 11 English-taught bachelor's programmes at 9 faculties for 2026/27, including Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Architecture, with semester fees from €2,340 to €6,830 for non-EU students.

WUT publishes no admission rate for international applicants. The International Students Office says it usually requires a school GPA of at least 70% with very good grades in maths and science; lower GPAs can apply but have lower chances.

WUT's standing schedule: the October intake application process starts at the beginning of May and ends in the middle of July.

WUT also runs a February intake (mid-November to mid-December) for programmes that start in the summer semester, but all English-taught bachelor's programmes listed for 2026/27 start in October. You can only apply for the incoming semester.
How to apply
International candidates apply through the Online Recruitment of Candidates (IRK), choosing a priority programme plus two alternatives, and upload the school certificate, transcript, passport, photo and proof of the PLN 85 application fee (PLN 150 for Architecture). Faculties issue a decision within about 15 days; qualified candidates then upload the legalised certificate, eligibility statement, English certificate and first-semester tuition payment to receive a visa letter.
What admissions looks for
- A school-leaving certificate that gives university access in your country, with a GPA of at least 70%.
- Very good grades in mathematics and science subjects.
- A recognised English certificate at B2 or above (school medium-of-instruction letters are not accepted).
- For applicants from outside the EU, OECD and EFTA, a successful online entrance interview and a NAWA recognition statement.
Tips for applying to WUT
- 1 Get your NAWA recognition statement started early if you need one: it can take up to 60 days.
- 2 Use all three programme choices in IRK; faculties review them in parallel but you will be qualified for only one.
- 3 Take IELTS, TOEFL or a Cambridge exam in advance, because WUT does not accept Duolingo or a school medium-of-instruction letter for bachelor's admission.
- 4 Architecture has its own application procedure and a higher application fee (PLN 150), so check it separately.

Full-time Polish-taught study is free for Polish and EU/EFTA citizens and for other foreigners who hold Karta Polaka, a Polish C1 certificate or a NAWA scholarship. For English-taught study, WUT points international students to NAWA programmes such as the Banach and Poland My First Choice scholarships (mainly for master's study) and the Visegrad scholarships.

WUT's historic heart is the Main Building on Politechniki Square in central Warsaw, and most faculties are nearby in the city centre, with one branch in Płock. The university runs 12 dormitories (11 in Warsaw and 1 in Płock), mostly with double or triple rooms, costing PLN 420 to PLN 770 a month in 2026/27.
