About DTU
Duy Tan University (DTU) was founded by a decision of Vietnam's Prime Minister on 11 November 1994 as the first private university in Central Vietnam. It is based in Da Nang, where it teaches across several city campuses, and describes itself as the first and largest private, multidisciplinary institution in the region. Its name comes from the Duy Tan modernisation movement of 1906-1908.
DTU is organised into schools including the School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, the School of Engineering and Technology, the School of Business and Economics, the School of Languages and Social Humanities, the College of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Hospitality and Tourism School. It offers 56 bachelor's majors with more than 100 specialisations, 16 master's and 10 doctoral fields, and was the first private university in Vietnam licensed to award PhDs.
The university is best known for its international partner curricula (Advanced and International programmes built with Carnegie Mellon, Penn State, Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly and Purdue University Northwest), on-site Troy University degree programmes, ABET accreditation for six programmes and a heavy research output for a private Vietnamese university. It suits Vietnamese and international students who want technology, engineering, health or tourism degrees with a strong industry and English-language component in a coastal city.
Why students choose DTU
DTU is ranked joint 504th in the QS World University Rankings 2027 and 41st in the world for Hospitality and Leisure Management in the QS 2026 subject rankings, which it describes as Vietnam's first top-50 subject ranking.
Six programmes, including Software Engineering, Network Technology, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Food Technology, hold ABET accreditation.
Advanced and International programmes follow curricula from Carnegie Mellon, Penn State, Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly and Purdue University Northwest, and students can earn a Troy University (US) degree without leaving Da Nang.
For the 2026 intake the university offered almost 2,000 scholarships worth more than 65 billion VND, including full-tuition awards for the CMU, PSU, CSU and PNU programmes.
