The University of Rzeszów was created by an act of the Polish parliament and began operating on 1 September 2001. It combined the Pedagogical University of Rzeszów, the Rzeszów branch of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University and the local economics faculty of Kraków’s agricultural academy.
