About Warwick
The University of Warwick was founded in 1965 and is based on a large campus in Coventry in the English Midlands. It is organised into three faculties: Arts; Science, Engineering and Medicine; and Social Sciences, alongside Warwick Business School and WMG. Although only about 60 years old, it is a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities.
Warwick is best known for economics, mathematics, business and computer science, and for its links with industry. In REF 2021, 92% of its research was rated world-leading or internationally excellent, and the High Fliers report named it the 4th most targeted UK university by top graduate employers in 2026. It is ranked 68th in the QS World University Rankings 2027 and in the UK top ten of the main 2027 national guides.
Admissions for the most competitive courses lean heavily on grades and, increasingly, on the TMUA: Computer Science requires it, Mathematics expects TMUA or STEP, and Economics uses it optionally. Warwick suits students who want a self-contained campus with halls, arts venues and sports facilities in one place, and who are aiming for demanding quantitative or business degrees.

Deadlines

Most Warwick undergraduate courses; a few may consider later applications without equal consideration.
13 January 2027 is the UCAS equal consideration deadline for 2027 entry. The TMUA has two sittings for 2027 entry: 12-16 October 2026 and 4-8 January 2027 (online registration for the January sitting closes on 21 December 2026). Warwick accepts only one TMUA result per cycle.
How to apply
Apply through UCAS by the equal consideration deadline. Warwick starts making decisions in October and monitors applications via UCAS Hub; courses using the TMUA release decisions in batches from November after the October test sitting.
What admissions looks for
- Predicted and achieved grades and past academic record, which are the main basis for decisions in subjects such as Economics.
- Strong performance in the TMUA (or STEP) for mathematical subjects, assessed alongside GCSEs, predicted grades and contextual indicators.
- A strong GCSE profile for competitive courses; Computer Science looks for a majority of grades at 7 or above.
- Contextual indicators: eligible applicants receive lower contextual offers and are not required to sit the TMUA.
Tips for applying to Warwick
- 1 If you apply for Computer Science, book the TMUA: applicants who do not take it and are not eligible for a contextual offer may not be considered.
- 2 For Economics, consider sitting the TMUA anyway; top scorers may be offered AAA instead of A*AA.
- 3 For Mathematics, a TMUA score of 5.0 or above was typical of offer-holders in 2025; if you plan to take STEP instead, say so on your UCAS application.
- 4 Check the English band for your course, since requirements range from IELTS 6.0 to 7.0.
