About UV
The Universitat de València (UV) dates its founding to 30 October 1499, when the city's Juries drew up the constitutions of its first university; Pope Alexander VI approved it in 1501 and Ferdinand II the Catholic granted the royal privilege in 1502. Its historic home, La Nau, still stands in the old city. The university describes itself as one of Spain's top five scientific centres and teaches almost every field: sciences and engineering, health, education, humanities, social sciences, economics and law.
UV has 18 schools and faculties spread over three main campuses. The Burjassot-Paterna campus holds Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Pharmacy and the School of Engineering; Blasco Ibáñez in the city houses Medicine and Odontology, Psychology, Geography and History, Philology, Translation and Communication, Nursing and Physiotherapy; and Tarongers holds Law, Economics and Social Sciences. There is also a campus in Ontinyent.
Admission is entirely by grade. In the first 2026-27 allocation, the double degree in Physics and Mathematics needed 13.441 out of 14, Medicine 13.171, Dentistry 12.976 and Mathematics plus Computer Engineering 12.968. Law (9.29), Economics (9.484) and Computer Engineering (9.398) were much more accessible. UV suits students who want a broad, old public university in a large Mediterranean city at very low fees, and who can study in Spanish or Valencian.

No overall admission rate is published. Places are allocated by admission grade out of 14 through the joint pre-enrolment of the five Valencian public universities. First-allocation general-quota cut-offs for 2026-27 (10 July 2026) included Physics and Mathematics 13.441, Medicine 13.171, Dentistry 12.976, Mathematics and Computer Engineering 12.968, Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences 12.842, Law and International Relations 12.364, Physics 12.298, Mathematics 12.096, International Business 11.941, Pharmacy 11.778, Psychology 10.949, Economics 9.484, Computer Engineering 9.398 and Law 9.29. Cut-offs usually fall in later rounds.

The 2027-28 pre-enrolment calendar is not yet published; UV says pre-enrolment always opens after PAU results, normally in the second half of June. Dates shown are from the 2026-27 cycle and have passed. The PCE registration period usually opens in February.
How to apply
Apply online through the Generalitat Valenciana's pre-enrolment, which is shared by the five Valencian public universities, ranking your chosen degrees in order of preference; you receive at most one place per year. International applicants attach their UNEDasiss accreditation. After an offer, you enrol at UV; if you stay on waiting lists you must confirm once that you want to take part in later rounds.
What admissions looks for
- An admission grade above the cut-off for your chosen degree; places are ranked strictly by grade.
- High marks in the specific subjects weighted for your degree, which can add up to 4 points.
- For international applicants, UNEDasiss accreditation and, for competitive degrees, PCE results.
Tips for applying to UV
- 1 If your school system is outside the EU and has no agreement with Spain, start the homologation early: UV lets you request UNEDasiss certification with just the proof that you applied.
- 2 Choose PCE subjects by the weighting table for your degree; for Medicine or Physics and Mathematics you need close to the full 4 extra points.
- 3 Rank your degrees carefully, since you only get one place per year, and remember to confirm your place on waiting lists or you will be dropped from later rounds.
- 4 Compare campuses: some degrees are also offered in Ontinyent or at affiliated centres with lower cut-offs.

Fees are set by the Generalitat Valenciana (Decree 101/2024, amended by Decree 195/2025). Students with an overall honours grade in Bachillerato pay no tuition in their first year, members of large families get 50% or 100% off, and students with a disability of 33% or more are exempt. Spanish Ministry of Education grants, Generalitat grants and UV's own study grants are also available to eligible students.

Student life
UV is spread through the city rather than on one campus: humanities, health and education on Avenida Blasco Ibáñez, law and economics at Tarongers, sciences and engineering in Burjassot-Paterna, and the historic La Nau building in the old town, which hosts exhibitions and cultural programmes. UVsports runs sports activities and competitions, UVculture puts on concerts, exhibitions and a university choir (the Orfeó Universitari), and UVpràctiques, UVocupació and UVemprén help with internships, jobs and start-ups.

Valencia is Spain's third-largest city and the capital of the Valencian Community, on the Mediterranean coast. UV's campuses are woven into the city: the Blasco Ibáñez and Tarongers campuses are in Valencia itself, the historic La Nau building, Botanical Garden and Rectorate are in the centre, and the science campus is in the neighbouring municipalities of Burjassot and Paterna.
