Student Life & Environment

Student life is centered on the Rovaniemi campus and shaped by a community that includes Finnish degree students, international degree students and exchange participants. The university’s exchange information states that one in five students on campus is international, although that figure should not be read as the proportion among degree students alone. International newcomers can access orientation and peer support; exchange orientation for autumn 2026 was scheduled for 18–21 August. Costs & Career Outcomes

For the autumn 2026 master’s intake, students liable for tuition were charged €13,000 per academic year. Liability generally applied to students who were not citizens of the EU, EEA or Switzerland and who lacked an exempting Finnish residence-permit status. The applicable tuition payment included a separate €61 Student Union membership fee for 2026–2027. Applicants should confirm their own fee status rather than infer it from nationality alone, because residence-permit exemptions can matter. For 2026 entrants, the university awarded €6,000 annual master’s scholarships to 20 percent of the intake in each degree programme based on admissions performance. Scholarship recipients paid the remaining tuition and the membership fee. Continuation into the second year required at least 60 relevant credits and a minimum first-year grade-point average of 3 out of 5. Scholarships did not cover living expenses.
