Student Life & Environment
Student life is distributed across two principal campus sites and the university’s individual faculties. The four pavilions of the Nikola Tesla Student Centre provide 1,250 beds in total: two pavilions are on the older campus at Majke Jugovića 1 and two are in University City. The 2026/27 guide says that the dormitory competition is announced in September. Residence is therefore not automatic, and prospective students should consult the current competition and the Student Centre rather than treating the published capacity as a housing guarantee. The residences include cafeterias serving three meals per day, as well as reading, internet, television and laundry rooms. On campus, students can also use libraries, reading spaces, sports areas and social spaces. The Students’ Cultural Center, which opened in 2024, has a multifunctional hall with a theatre and music stage and hosts cultural, creative and student-oriented activities. Students with disabilities can seek help from the University Support Centre. Its remit includes information about available support, accessibility, scholarships, internships and exchange opportunities, with services coordinated across university members. Student representation operates through faculty-level associations and a university Student Parliament. International and exchange students can request assistance from their faculty’s international-cooperation coordinator, including guidance concerning accommodation, visas, residence permits and health insurance. The availability and terms of each service should be confirmed for the relevant academic year.
Location & Surroundings
The university is based in Banja Luka, the administrative center of the Republic of Srpska within Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its principal address is University City, Bulevar vojvode Petra Bojovića 1A, 78000 Banja Luka. Most faculties occupy two campus sites near the Vrbas River and close to the city center, allowing students to reach central services, cultural venues and everyday amenities without living on an isolated out-of-town campus. University City contains the rectorate, administrative offices, student residences, the Students’ Cultural Center and several central support units. The older campus accommodates two additional residence pavilions. Banja Luka itself offers theatres, museums, galleries, cinemas, concerts and festivals, while the river and surrounding green areas contribute outdoor and recreational options. These are citywide resources rather than university-provided facilities. Applicants should verify the teaching address of their specific faculty and program before arranging housing or transport. Although most teaching is concentrated on the two central sites, the university is organizationally dispersed, and not every faculty service is located at the rectorate. International students living in private accommodation must also follow local residence-registration requirements; the university’s visa and temporary-residence guidance directs them to register with the relevant foreigners’ affairs field center.
Costs & Career Outcomes
Costs vary by study cycle, faculty, program, attendance status and nationality. The university’s 2026/27 price list sets first-cycle self-financing tuition from 1,000 to 4,000 BAM across the listed categories. First-cycle tuition for foreign nationals ranges from 2,000 BAM for many other university members to 8,800 BAM for specified English-language medicine, dental medicine and pharmacy offerings; other listed international rates include 2,500, 3,000, 4,000 and 6,000 BAM. These figures are category-specific rather than a single university tuition rate. Second- and third-cycle charges also vary, and individual faculties may publish approved prices for services not covered by the central schedule. Applicants should budget separately for the entrance-examination or application fee, enrolment expenses, housing, meals, insurance, residence formalities, books and transport. The 2026/27 guide specifies a €100 application fee for foreign applicants. It confirms subsidized-style dormitory meals and 1,250 residence beds but does not provide a current universal room-and-board total, so no overall living-cost estimate can be verified from the selected official sources. Career support is decentralized. The university operates an Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer Centre, while some faculties provide their own initiatives. The Faculty of Economics, for example, has a Career and Alumni Centre offering training, internship links and connections with employers. Students in other disciplines should ask their faculty which placements, practical training and career services are currently available. Erasmus+ and CEEPUS can also include practical training, but participation and financial terms depend on the particular call. No verified university-wide graduate employment rate or salary data were found, so prospective students should evaluate program curricula, professional recognition and placement access directly.
