Sign up to see your chancesUniversidad Nacional del Callao, commonly known as UNAC, is a public, SUNEDU-licensed university based in Bellavista in Peru’s Constitutional Province of Callao. Created in 1966, it now organizes undergraduate education across 12 faculties, with a particularly broad presence in engineering alongside business, economics, accounting, natural sciences, health, and education. Its professional schools lead students toward the Peruvian bachiller degree and corresponding professional title. A separate graduate school offers master’s and doctoral study. Admission to undergraduate programs is competitive and organized through general examinations, the university’s pre-university center, and legally defined special routes. Spanish is the working language prospective international students should expect. UNAC is a practical option for applicants seeking public university study in the Lima–Callao metropolitan area, but candidates should verify program-specific curricula, fees, and documentation directly with the relevant faculty.
About Universidad Nacional del Callao
Universidad Nacional del Callao is an operating public university in Callao, Peru. SUNEDU’s public-university register records its creation under Law No. 16225 on 2 September 1966 and its institutional licensing under Resolution No. 171-2019-SUNEDU/CD. The institution originally operated as Universidad Nacional Técnica del Callao; the present name was adopted under Peru’s 1983 University Law. Its licensed status and approved 2026 undergraduate admission places confirm that it continues to admit and educate degree students. UNAC’s main academic center is the Ciudad Universitaria at Avenida Juan Pablo II 306 in Bellavista. The university’s current homepage describes 12 faculties spanning engineering, business-related disciplines, science, health, and education. This structure gives UNAC a more technically oriented profile than a small comprehensive institution, although its offerings extend beyond engineering. The Rectorate has a separate Bellavista address on Avenida Sáenz Peña. Governance and qualifications follow the Peruvian public-university framework. Professional schools manage the curriculum and formation of students through the bachiller degree and the corresponding professional title. Postgraduate education is coordinated through the Escuela de Posgrado, which advertised active master’s and doctoral admissions in 2026. Prospective students should distinguish carefully between undergraduate professional degrees, graduate degrees, second-specialty programs, and continuing-education credentials because they have separate admission processes and may follow different fee arrangements.

How Admissions Work
Undergraduate admission is organized as a public competition with approved places for each professional school. For 2026, UNAC authorized two in-person cycles, 2026-I and 2026-II, covering the general examination, Centro Preuniversitario, and other specified routes. The approved alternatives include internal and external transfer, second professional qualification, top secondary-school finishers, qualified athletes, victims of terrorism, defenders of the homeland, and applicants with qualifying special educational needs. Each route has its own evidence requirements; eligibility for one should not be inferred from another. As of 20 August 2026, the 2026-I general examination had already taken place on 19 July. For 2026-II, the approved schedule sets general-exam payment from 12 October through 16 December 2026, registration from 13 October through 17 December, and the examination for 20 December. The Centro Pre and other-modalities examination is scheduled for 13 December. Successful applicants are scheduled to submit documents in January 2027. Candidates should recheck the official admissions site for amendments before paying. The general and Centro Pre examinations contain 100 questions and last three hours. UNAC states that they assess academic aptitude and subject knowledge, with incorrect answers receiving a 25 percent penalty relative to a correct answer. On examination day, candidates must bring their original DNI or foreign-resident card and a printed registration record. International applicants should use the international-transfer route only if its eligibility conditions fit their prior study; the official 2026 rules should be consulted for document validation and other requirements.
Academic Experience
UNAC’s 12 faculties cover Mechanical and Energy Engineering; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Fisheries and Food Engineering; Industrial and Systems Engineering; Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering; Administrative Sciences; Accounting Sciences; Economic Sciences; Natural Sciences and Mathematics; Health Sciences; and Education Sciences. The university’s approved 2026 undergraduate vacancy table identifies 17 professional-school fields: administration, accounting, economics, physical education, mathematics, physics, nursing, environmental and natural-resources engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, industrial engineering, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, energy engineering, fisheries engineering, food engineering, and chemical engineering. This portfolio is useful for students who want a specialized professional curriculum rather than a broad liberal-arts model. Engineering is distributed among six faculties, while the remaining faculties provide business, economics, science, nursing, and physical-education pathways. Applicants should compare the curriculum and professional outcomes of similarly named fields, particularly the different engineering programs, before selecting the school used on the admission application. Under UNAC’s academic structure, each professional school designs and updates its curriculum and directs education through the bachiller degree and professional title. Faculties also contain research and postgraduate units. The Vice-Rectorate for Research describes faculty-linked and multidisciplinary research groups involving teachers, students, and graduates. At graduate level, the official postgraduate site lists master’s and doctoral programs and showed an active 2026 admission cycle. Program availability, schedules, research lines, and delivery arrangements should be checked with the relevant faculty or graduate unit because they are not necessarily uniform across the university.

Student Life & Environment
Student support is coordinated by the Dirección de Bienestar Universitario at the Bellavista university campus. Its official service structure covers health care, dining and university residence, social service, and recreation, culture, and sports. The health unit’s remit includes medical, psychological, dental, and clinical-analysis services. These are institutional service areas rather than a guarantee that every service is automatically available or free to every student, so newcomers should ask about eligibility, appointments, capacity, and current charges. The presence of a combined dining and residence unit may matter to students relocating to Callao, but UNAC does not publish sufficiently clear current information on the number of beds, allocation rules, or 2026 residence prices on the cited service page. Applicants should therefore avoid assuming that university housing will be available and should obtain written confirmation before relying on it. The social-service unit is the appropriate starting point for questions about welfare assessment and food support. Cultural, recreational, and sports activities are also part of the welfare structure. Academic and administrative access relies partly on university digital systems: UNAC publishes student manuals and dedicated support contacts for its academic-management system and institutional email. Spanish is the institutional language reflected across admissions, regulations, and student services; international students should be prepared to complete academic and administrative processes in Spanish.
Location & Surroundings
UNAC’s Ciudad Universitaria is at Avenida Juan Pablo II 306 in Bellavista, within Peru’s Constitutional Province of Callao. Official institutional planning material places the Rectorate separately at Avenida Sáenz Peña 1060–1066, also in Bellavista. Applicants should note which office or faculty they need before traveling, since admissions, central administration, and academic units may not use the same entrance or building. Callao forms part of the continuous Lima–Callao metropolitan area, giving students access to the opportunities and complexity of Peru’s largest urban region. For decision-making, the most relevant confirmed fact is that undergraduate faculties and the university welfare office identify the Juan Pablo II campus as their base. Students comparing accommodation should calculate the actual trip to Bellavista rather than relying only on a listing labeled “Lima” or “Callao.” UNAC’s official sources do not provide a single current guide to commute times, neighborhood housing costs, or campus parking. Prospective students should check routes at the hours when their intended program meets and confirm whether particular laboratory, clinical, postgraduate, or administrative activities occur away from the main university campus.
Costs & Career Outcomes
UNAC is a public university, but applicants should separate the cost of instruction from admission, enrollment, administrative, language-course, and living expenses. The official 2026-I admissions table listed general-examination fees from PEN 240 to PEN 360 depending on school type and whether the school was in Callao. Other routes had different charges: for example, internal transfer was PEN 400, while several external-transfer or second-profession categories were higher. The admission confirmation carried a separate PEN 200 charge. These figures apply to the published 2026-I table and should not be assumed unchanged for 2026-II or later cycles. A current, consolidated 2026 undergraduate cost-of-attendance figure was not found. UNAC publishes a tariff schedule for administrative and educational services, and its payment systems refer to enrollment and other transactions, but these do not establish one universal annual price. Housing, meals, transport, materials, and program-specific requirements can vary substantially. Students should ask the admissions office and their intended faculty for an itemized current estimate. Postgraduate and second-specialty candidates should not assume that undergraduate public-university arrangements apply to them. For career development, UNAC maintains a graduate employability unit and a digital job platform intended to connect students and graduates with employment, professional-practice, networking, and development opportunities. Its 2025 organizational rules assign the university responsibility for employability plans, a job board, and monitoring of pre-professional and professional placements. A 2026 university announcement also documented a Callao employment and internship fair. No current, comparable salary or placement-rate data were verified, so program choice should be based on curriculum, professional requirements, and direct evidence from the relevant school rather than assumed earnings.
