About UAF
The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad began in 1906 as the Punjab Agricultural College and Research Institute in Lyallpur (today's Faisalabad), was upgraded to the West Pakistan Agricultural University in 1961 and has carried its current name since 1973. It is still best known for agriculture, veterinary science and food science, but it has grown into a broad university with nine faculties, 12 institutes, three constituent colleges and a community college.
UAF reported 32,651 students in its February 2026 fact sheet, about 57% of them women, taught by 682 faculty members. It offers 68 undergraduate and 154 postgraduate programmes, from B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture with 11 majors and the five-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine to computer science, fashion design and criminology. Its main campus in central Faisalabad pairs a domed red-brick old building with experimental farms.
Admission is competitive and formula-driven. Pakistani applicants register for an entry test, and merit is calculated from Matric, Intermediate Part I and the test in a 30:30:40 ratio. Foreign nationals apply separately through the Foreign Students' Advisor, usually on scholarships or the self-finance scheme. UAF suits students who want a large, low-cost public university with deep roots in farming, food and life sciences.
Why students choose UAF
It ranks joint 629th in the QS World University Rankings 2027, with agriculture and veterinary science as its historic strengths.
B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture offers 11 majors, from agronomy and entomology to agri-biotechnology and forestry, chosen after the first four semesters.
One entry test registration counts as an application to every eligible programme on the chosen campus, so you are considered for all of them.
The university reports disbursing PKR 414 million in scholarships to about 5,460 students in the current financial year.

Selectivity
UAF does not publish an acceptance rate. Admission is on open merit on an all-Pakistan basis, with merit calculated from Matric, Intermediate Part I and the UAF entry test in a 30:30:40 ratio; each programme publishes successive merit lists.
Typical entry requirements
| Matric and Intermediate (Pakistan) | Candidates appearing in or holding Intermediate Part II can apply; provisional admission is based on Matric, Intermediate Part I and entry test (30:30:40), confirmed once the full Intermediate result meets the programme minimum (e.g. 45% for Agriculture, 50% for BS Computer Science, 60% for DVM) |
|---|---|
| Foreign nationals | 12-year higher secondary certificate with a science combination (chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics or computer) and at least 45%, age limit 23, plus passport, embassy NOC and an English language proficiency certificate; IBCC equivalence required after provisional selection |
| English language | Foreign applicants must submit an English language proficiency certificate; UAF does not publish minimum test scores. |

All dates shown are from the 2026-27 session and have passed. UAF advertises undergraduate admissions around June each year, with entry tests in July and August and classes from the Winter Semester in September; dates for the 2027-28 session had not been published by late September 2026.
How to apply
Pakistani applicants register online at admissions.uaf.edu.pk, choose a test centre and campus, pay Rs 1,500 entry test fee plus Rs 1,500 admission form processing fee (Rs 3,000 total, non-refundable) at Allied Bank or MCB, and sit the entry test; the registration counts as an application to all eligible programmes on that campus. Merit lists are then published per programme. Foreign nationals apply online or email documents to the Foreign Students' Advisor (FSA), Registrar or Director of Graduate Studies; the FSA forwards them for equivalence and departmental admission and helps with visa documents.
What admissions looks for
- Strong Matric and Intermediate Part I marks, which together count for 60% of merit.
- A good entry test score, worth 40% of merit and subject to minimums for engineering (33%), DVM and Pharm-D (50%).
- Full Intermediate results that meet each programme's minimum percentage, or the provisional admission is cancelled.
- For foreign nationals, a science-based higher secondary record of at least 45% and the required embassy and equivalence documents.
Tips for applying to UAF
- 1 Register early for the first entry test: in 2026 there were three test dates, but merit lists moved quickly once results were in.
- 2 Choose your test centre and stream carefully; UAF does not allow changes after selection.
- 3 Aim above the 50% test minimum if you want DVM or Pharm-D; for DVM, only the top 50 on merit get the lower S1 semester fee.
- 4 Check both the main campus and the constituent colleges (Toba Tek Singh, Burewala, Depalpur) where many of the same degrees are offered.
- 5 Foreign applicants should email the Foreign Students' Advisor well before September, because IBCC equivalence and embassy NOCs take time.

Location
Faisalabad, formerly Lyallpur, is a large city in Punjab surrounded by canal-irrigated farmland; the colonial authorities chose it for an agricultural college because it lay between two canals. UAF's main campus is about 2 km from the city centre and its Clock Tower, and about 12 km from Faisalabad International Airport, so students get city life and working farms side by side.
