About Sheffield Hallam
Sheffield Hallam University says it was founded in 1843 as the Sheffield School of Design and received university status in 1992. It describes itself as one of the UK's largest and most diverse universities, with about 31,000 students, nearly 4,000 staff and 345,000 alumni. More than 4,500 students are international, over half come from within 25 miles of the main campus, and 71% come from families without a parent who took part in higher education.
The university holds a Gold rating in the 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework and five stars in the QS Star rating. It promises that every student will gain a placement during their degree through its Highly Skilled Employability strategy.
