About SeoulTech

Seoul National University of Science and Technology, known as SeoulTech, is a national university in Nowon-gu, northern Seoul. Wikipedia traces it to a vocational school of 1910 and records its renaming as Seoul National University of Science and Technology in September 2010, to mark the 100th anniversary of its founding. Its campus was formerly occupied by the engineering colleges of Seoul National University.

Its 2027 international undergraduate admissions are organised mainly around the Global School of Liberal Studies, run by the International College. Students choose an academic track (Engineering, Energy and Biotechnology, Design, Humanities and Social Sciences, Computer Science and Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering), spend two semesters in the school, complete foundation courses including Korean, and are then guaranteed a place in their chosen department. Some departments admit separately, including English-track Business Administration, MSDE, IT Management and Global IT Convergence.

SeoulTech is a practical fit for applicants who want engineering, architecture, design or technology management in Seoul, and who are willing to learn Korean: most routes need TOPIK Level 3 or a language-programme equivalent, though the English tracks require TOEFL iBT 71 or IELTS 5.5 instead. Several routes carry accreditation notes: the Architectural Engineering program is ABEEK-accredited, the Architecture program is KAAB-accredited, and ITM and MSDE offer dual degrees with Northumbria University with all years studied in Korea.

Why students choose SeoulTech

01

The International Student Scholarship covers full tuition plus on-campus housing for the first semester for undergraduate applicants with TOPIK 6 (or TOEFL iBT 100 / IELTS 7.0) and strong document and interview assessment.

02

The Global School of Liberal Studies lets you pick a track first and choose your department after two semesters, with a guaranteed place once foundation courses are complete.

03

English-track degrees in Business Administration, IT Management, MSDE and Global IT Convergence need TOEFL iBT 71 to 80 or IELTS 5.5 to 6.0 rather than Korean; applicants from countries where English is an official language are exempt.

04

ITM and MSDE offer dual-degree programmes with Northumbria University (UK), with all years of study completed in Korea (spring admission only).

Admissions

Selectivity

SeoulTech publishes no acceptance rate. Applications are screened on documents, then applicants who pass are interviewed, in person or online; applicants who miss the interview are disqualified.

Testing Korean proficiency is required (TOPIK Level 3 or an equivalent language-programme completion) unless applying to an English-track department, where TOEFL iBT 71 to 80 or IELTS 5.5 to 6.0 applies. Creative Writing requires TOPIK Level 6.

How to apply

Apply online at global.seoultech.ac.kr, pay the KRW 120,000 application fee (KRW 50,000 extra for an optional second-choice major), then post or deliver original documents to the Office of International Affairs. Documents include the application form, academic records consent form, apostilled or consular-confirmed diploma and transcript, language score report, and copies of the applicant's and both parents' passports. Art and Design applicants add a portfolio; a personal statement and study plan is optional for undergraduates.

What admissions looks for

  • Academic transcripts and supporting documents showing academic performance, extracurricular activities, language proficiency and relevant skills.
  • Korean proficiency at TOPIK Level 3 or English proficiency for English-track departments.
  • A good interview: applicants who pass document screening are interviewed, and those who do not attend are disqualified.
  • A portfolio (a PDF of at least 10 pages on a USB drive) for College of Art and Design applicants.

Tips for applying to SeoulTech

  1. 1 Decide between the Global School of Liberal Studies (pick a department after two semesters) and department-specific admission, since departments not in the school admit separately.
  2. 2 Check which TOPIK sitting counts: for spring 2027, round 1 accepts the July 2026 PBT and September 2026 IBT, and round 2 accepts the 24 October 2026 IBT.
  3. 3 If you lack TOPIK 3, ask about Conditional Admission for the Humanities and Social Sciences Track of the Global School of Liberal Studies, open on a rolling basis until 31 December 2026 to applicants who can interview in English or Chinese.
  4. 4 Tick the dormitory option in your application: rooms are only assigned through the admissions application.
