Sign up to see your chancesNanjing University of Finance & Economics is a public, province-administered university in Nanjing, Jiangsu. Its institutional roots date to 1956, while the present university was officially established under its current identity in 2003 after several predecessor institutions were combined. Economics and management remain central, but current offerings also extend across law, computing, mathematics, languages, journalism, arts, food science and engineering. The university awards bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. Its main Xianlin campus is in a university district in Qixia, with additional activity at Fujian Road and Qiaotou. Most international degree choices are taught in Chinese, although NUFE offered an English-taught Bachelor of Business Administration route for 2026. This makes language of instruction, campus assignment and the rules of the specific admissions track important points to confirm before applying.
About Nanjing University of Finance & Economics
NUFE’s origins lie in a grain-sector school authorized in 1956. The institution passed through several names and administrative arrangements before Nanjing Institute of Economics, Jiangsu Economic Management Cadres College and Jiangsu Finance and Economics College were brought together beginning in 2000. The Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Nanjing University of Finance and Economics in 2003. The university is currently administered at the provincial level and remained active in Jiangsu’s official higher-education register in March 2026. The university’s defining academic orientation is finance, economics and management, supported by a broader multidisciplinary structure. Official 2026 graduate information identifies doctoral authorization in applied economics and business administration, 14 academic master’s authorization areas, 22 professional master’s authorization areas, 48 regular undergraduate programs and four undergraduate programs operated through international cooperation. The same material identifies applied economics, business administration, and food science and engineering as Jiangsu university priority disciplines. NUFE operates across Xianlin, Fujian Road and Qiaotou. Xianlin is the principal campus and the base of the College of International Education, which handles international admissions, academic administration, language preparation and student support. The university’s public status, degree authority and current recruitment are directly documented; however, prospective students should distinguish the general university portfolio from the smaller selection made available to international applicants in each annual guide.

How Admissions Work
International applicants must follow the guide for their intended level and language track. For the 2026 Chinese-taught bachelor’s intake, applicants needed a completed high-school education, non-Chinese nationality, good health and conduct, sufficient finances, and Chinese ability at or above HSK Level 4. Applicants were normally limited to age 24 or younger. The application required academic records, language evidence, two teacher recommendations, a résumé, health and criminal-record documents, and proof of at least US$3,000 or the equivalent in funds. Selection included document review followed by assessment of general qualities, subject knowledge and Chinese ability. That 2026 undergraduate cycle ran in two rounds, from 21 November 2025 to 1 March 2026 and from 2 March to 15 June 2026, but the university closed recruitment early. Those dates must not be reused for 2027. The English-taught BBA had separate academic and English requirements, including IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80 or Duolingo 105, unless accepted evidence of English-medium schooling applied. The 2026 international master’s cycle also closed on 15 June 2026 and required a substantive interview or re-examination. Graduate applicants faced program-specific academic, Chinese-language and, where applicable, supervisor requirements. As of 20 August 2026, applicants for the next intake should wait for the university’s 2027 guide and use the online system and international admissions page for official updates.
Academic Experience
NUFE is strongest in economics and management. Its 2026 Chinese-taught international undergraduate guide offered subjects including economics, economic statistics, digital economy, public finance, taxation, finance, financial engineering, financial technology, international economics and trade, accounting, auditing, business administration, e-commerce and logistics management. The same international list extended beyond business into law, social work, languages, journalism, food science, grain engineering, computer science, software engineering, mathematics and design. Availability can change by intake, so the annual international guide—not the university-wide subject catalogue—should be treated as definitive. The 2026 international undergraduate curriculum normally takes four years, with a six-year maximum. The Chinese-taught route required at least 120 credits, including no fewer than 64 professional-course credits, and normally required the thesis and defence in Chinese outside foreign-language majors. NUFE also recruited for an English-taught Bachelor of Business Administration in 2026. That four-year program covered management, accounting, operations and human resources, while also including Chinese language and China-focused study; graduation required at least HSK Level 4. At graduate level, the 2026 international master’s guide listed academic and professional fields across economics, finance, statistics, law, computing, food science, management, accounting and public administration. Doctoral recruitment was offered in applied economics and business administration. Students comparing levels should examine the program-specific language, supervisor and assessment requirements rather than assume that rules from one international track apply to another.

Student Life & Environment
International-student administration is based at the College of International Education on the Xianlin campus. The college manages admissions, teaching affairs, language training and student administration, giving international students a defined office for both academic and immigration-related processes. NUFE’s published facilities information describes international dormitories, lecture rooms, libraries, dining halls, printing services, laundry facilities, a gym and indoor or outdoor sports spaces. Available sports facilities include basketball, football, tennis, badminton and table tennis areas. The university reports four canteens at Xianlin, with Dongyuan Dining Hall closest to the international residence. The 2026 English-taught BBA guide also stated that halal meals were available on Dongyuan’s second floor. Students should nevertheless check current opening arrangements and dietary provision after arrival because the detailed facilities page dates from 2022. Housing conditions depend on program and campus assignment. The 2026 international undergraduate guide said first-year undergraduates were generally expected to live on campus. The master’s guide placed international students at Xianlin or Fujian Road during the standard study period and allowed an application for off-campus residence after one completed academic year. Campus and room allocation remain subject to university arrangements, so applicants should not assume that admission guarantees a particular building or campus.
Location & Surroundings
NUFE is in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province in eastern China. Its principal address is 3 Wenyuan Road, Xianlin College Town, Qixia District. Xianlin is a university-oriented area rather than Nanjing’s traditional central district, which gives the main campus a concentrated academic setting. The university describes Xianlin as its main campus, while its Fujian Road location is in Gulou District and is closer to central Nanjing. The distinction matters for daily travel and housing. International students may study or live at Xianlin or Fujian Road depending on their program and the university’s allocation, so they should verify the teaching site before choosing off-campus accommodation or estimating a commute. Xianlin contains the College of International Education, international residences, dining and major student facilities. The official address page also identifies Qiaotou as part of the university’s multi-campus footprint, but current international admissions documents do not indicate it as the normal base for new international degree students. Applicants should therefore make practical plans around the campus named in their admission and accommodation documents rather than the university name alone.
Costs & Career Outcomes
For the 2026 international intake, the Chinese-taught bachelor’s and English-taught BBA guides set tuition at CNY 17,000 per academic year. A twin room at Xianlin was listed at CNY 4,000 per academic year. The bachelor’s guide also identified a CNY 400 application fee, CNY 600 annual insurance, an approximately CNY 580 medical examination and a CNY 400 annual residence permit, with textbooks and visa-related costs paid separately. The master’s guide listed tuition of CNY 23,000 and accommodation of CNY 4,000 per academic year, plus a CNY 400 application fee and other personal study or immigration costs. These are 2026 figures and should be rechecked for later entry. Students should budget for payment timing as well as headline charges. NUFE stated that scholarship awards are paid after students register and first pay the full required tuition, housing and related fees. Newly admitted external undergraduate and master’s students generally could not compete for the university’s performance-based awards in their first year because they lacked a NUFE academic record; later eligibility depended on prior-year performance. A refundable CNY 1,000 dormitory deposit was also specified for international graduate arrival and the BBA route. Official sources describe curricula and intended professional preparation but do not publish verified placement rates, salaries or employer outcomes for the relevant 2026 cohorts. Career planning should therefore focus on the concrete skills in the chosen curriculum, Chinese-language development, internships and the legal conditions governing international-student work and post-study employment in China.
