About London Met
London Metropolitan University was created in 2002 by merging London Guildhall University and the University of North London, which London Met describes as the first merger between two UK universities. Its own history page traces its roots to 1848 and the Metropolitan Evening Classes for Young Men, and its Holloway campus grew from the Northern Polytechnic Institution, which opened in 1896.
