About KMUTT
King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) traces its origin to the Thonburi Technology Institute, set up on 4 February 1960 to train technicians and technical teachers. It became King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi in 1998 and, according to the university, was the first Thai public university to receive full autonomy. It is one of Thailand's nine national research universities.
The main Bangmod campus covers 52 acres on the west side of Bangkok and houses the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Science, the School of Information Technology, the School of Liberal Arts and the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment. The Bangkhuntien campus (80 acres on KMUTT's admissions site, 133 acres on its main site) is home to the School of Architecture and Design and the School of Bioresources and Technology, and a 460-acre Ratchaburi site (Residential College / Learning Park) is used for teaching, research and technology work.
For international undergraduates, the university offers English-language programmes such as Computer Science, Civil, Computer, Chemical and Automation Engineering, Architecture, Interior Architecture and design degrees. Applicants apply online, are reviewed on test results, performance and a physical examination, and receive a Letter of Acceptance for a Non-Immigrant ED student visa. KMUTT provides roughly 270 scholarships a year. It suits students who want an engineering, IT or design degree in Bangkok, in a research-oriented university with a defined English pathway.
