About IPB

IPB University, still widely known as Bogor Agricultural University (Institut Pertanian Bogor), became an independent institute on 1 September 1963, but its roots go back to Dutch colonial agricultural and veterinary schools in Bogor. The Faculty of Agriculture dates from 1941, and after independence it was part of the University of Indonesia before IPB was set up on its own.

IPB's stated mission is to lead in agriculture, marine science and tropical biosciences. It is organised into nine faculties and four schools, from Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Science, Animal Science and Forestry to Engineering and Technology, Economics and Management, Medicine and Nutrition, a School of Business, a School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and a School of Data Science, Mathematics and Informatics. The main campus is at Dramaga, outside Bogor city, with smaller campuses in Bogor and Sukabumi.

For international students, the main route is the International Undergraduate Program (IUP), English-taught classes in fields such as smart agriculture, veterinary medicine, marine science, food technology, forestry and business, many with double-degree or exchange partners abroad. IPB suits students who want to work on food, farming, forests and the sea in a tropical setting.
