About INTI IU

INTI began in 1986 as a college in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, with 37 students. It moved to its 82-acre campus in Putra Nilai in 1998, became INTI University College in 2006 and was upgraded to INTI International University in 2010, when it gained the right to award its own degrees. It is part of INTI International University & Colleges, a network of four Malaysian campuses (Nilai, Subang, Penang and Sabah) owned since 2020 by Hope Education Group. The university says more than 95,000 students have studied at INTI over 40 years.

The Nilai campus is the flagship and the residential one. Teaching is organised into faculties of Business and Communications; Data Science and Information Technology; Engineering and Quantity Surveying; Health and Life Sciences; and Education and Liberal Arts, plus a School of Music run with China Record and a School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Besides its own degrees, INTI offers 3+0 and 4+0 programmes taught in Malaysia in collaboration with partners such as Coventry, Hertfordshire, Sheffield Hallam, Swinburne and Southern New Hampshire University.

Admission is based on meeting published minimum entry requirements rather than competitive ranking, and fees for Malaysian and international students are the same, apart from a 6% service tax for internationals. INTI suits students who want an affordable, practically oriented degree near Kuala Lumpur, with employer projects built into the curriculum and a straightforward path in from foundation or diploma study.

Why students choose INTI IU

01

The university has climbed in QS every year since its 2024 debut, from #556 to joint 406th in the QS World University Rankings 2027.

02

Three-year degrees such as the Bachelor of Business (Hons) Business Administration cost about RM 83,449 in total, roughly RM 27,800 a year, and international students pay the same published fee plus 6% service tax.

03

Several intakes a year (for example January, May and August for Computer Science and Civil Engineering) mean you do not have to wait for a single autumn start.

04

Employer projects, on-campus recruitment, the Career Preparation Workshop and an industry advisory board are built into how programmes are designed and taught.

Admissions

2027 intakes (January, May/June/July and August intakes depending on programme)

Selectivity

INTI does not publish an acceptance rate. Admission is by meeting each programme's published minimum entry requirements (for example two A-level passes at grade D for Biotechnology, or an IB score of 26 for Civil Engineering).

Testing No admissions test. Entry is by school-leaving or pre-university results; international students also need English proficiency (IELTS or TOEFL) where applicable.
Grades Foundation and diploma holders typically need a CGPA of 2.0 or above (2.33 in two science subjects for Physiotherapy; 2.5 to 2.75 for diploma entry to Computer Science).

Typical entry requirements

A-levelsProgramme-specific minimums: two passes at grade D for Biotechnology and Computer Science (with maths/science credits at SPM or O-level); minimum grade C in Mathematics and one science for Civil Engineering; grade D in two of Biology/Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry for Physiotherapy
IB DiplomaMinimum 26 of 42 points with passes in Mathematics and one natural science for Civil Engineering; other programmes accept IB as an equivalent qualification
Australian Year 12 / SACE / NSW HSCATAR 55 (Computer Science, Physiotherapy), 60 (Civil Engineering) or 70 (Biotechnology), with required subjects
UEC (Malaysian Unified Examination Certificate)Five B grades including Mathematics and a science subject for most science, computing and engineering degrees
Other national school-leaving certificatesINTI lists accepted 12-year school certificates country by country (for example India's 10+2, Indonesia's SMA III, Saudi Arabia's General Secondary School Certificate) on its international entry requirements page
English languageIELTS 5.5 Physiotherapy lists IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 550 (paper-based) or equivalent for international students; requirements vary by programme. Students without the required score can take INTI's Intensive English Programme first.

Deadlines

  1. January 2027 intake Non-binding
Rolling; apply by about October-November 2026

INTI asks international applicants to apply at least 2 to 3 months before the intake date so the visa can be processed.

  2. May/June/July 2027 intake Non-binding
Rolling; apply 2 to 3 months before the intake

Mid-year intake month depends on programme (May for Business, Computer Science and Civil Engineering; June for Biotechnology; July for Physiotherapy).

  3. August 2027 intake Non-binding
Rolling; apply by about May-June 2027

Offered for most degrees at the Nilai campus (not Physiotherapy, which has January and July intakes).

INTI does not publish fixed application deadlines; it admits on a rolling basis for each intake and advises international students to apply 2 to 3 months ahead. Intake months are taken from programme pages and may change.

How to apply

Apply directly to INTI (online or through an INTI representative) at least 2 to 3 months before your intake, with the application form, application fee, passport copies, certified academic transcripts in English, English test results and a pre-arrival medical report. INTI issues an offer letter and applies for your student visa through Education Malaysia Global Services (about 6 to 8 weeks); you then pay the first semester's fees as a prepaid fee to receive the e-Visa Approval Letter.

What admissions looks for

  • Completion of a recognised 12-year school certificate or pre-university qualification that meets the programme's published minimum.
  • Credits in the right subjects, especially Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and a science for computing, engineering and life-science degrees.
  • Adequate English proficiency, shown by IELTS, TOEFL or an equivalent, or completion of INTI's English programme.
  • Complete, certified documents so the student visa can be processed on time.

Tips for applying to INTI IU

  1. 1 Check the intake months on your programme page: Physiotherapy only starts in January and July, while Computer Science and Civil Engineering start in January, May and August.
  2. 2 Apply for the International Education Scholarship at the same time as your application: it is worth up to 45% of first-year tuition but is first-come, first-served.
  3. 3 Budget for the 6% Sales and Service Tax on international fees and for the prepaid first-semester fee you must pay before the e-Visa Approval Letter is released.
  4. 4 If you are weighing a UK or Australian degree, compare INTI's own degree with the 3+0 partner route: both are taught in Malaysia but lead to different awards.
