The university is in Skövde in Västra Götaland, between Sweden’s two largest urban regions. Its campus is only a few minutes on foot from the central railway and bus station, giving students straightforward connections without requiring a car for the daily trip between campus and the transport hub. Central shops and services are also within walking distance. Campus buildings sit near Boulognerparken, the Student Union House and several student residences. Science Park Skövde, an innovation and business environment associated particularly with technology and game development, is next door. This creates a close physical link between academic facilities and parts of the local employer and startup community, although it does not guarantee placements or employment. Skövde offers a smaller-city setting rather than the scale and breadth of Stockholm or Gothenburg. That may appeal to students seeking short commutes and a concentrated campus environment, while those prioritizing a large metropolitan cultural or employment market should weigh the trade-off. Rail access helps connect Skövde to other Swedish cities, but students should check actual timetables, journey costs and housing locations when planning.

Costs & Career Outcomes

For the 2026/27 academic year, applicants who are required to pay tuition fall into two programme price brackets: SEK 110,000 or SEK 155,000 per 60-credit academic year. Humanities, law, social science and education use the lower bracket, while life science, technology, medicine, health science and design use the higher programme bracket. The applicable total is shown on the individual programme listing. These figures should not be generalized to every student: citizens of EU/EEA countries and Switzerland are normally exempt, while other exemptions may depend on individual status. Fee-liable applicants also pay the national SEK 900 application fee. Tuition is paid in Swedish kronor to the university, normally semester by semester in advance. It does not cover accommodation, living expenses, books or other course materials. The university offers competitive master’s scholarships for fee-paying students, including partial waivers covering 50 percent of tuition. It states that it does not offer equivalent university tuition waivers for fee-paying bachelor’s students.
