Student Life & Environment

Student life is spread across several locations rather than concentrated on one residential campus. The main site in The Hague provides the broadest institutional setting, while students in Delft, Zoetermeer, Zuiderpark or the Poseidon building should assess the facilities and commuting pattern of their assigned location. THUAS lists a Study & Career Centre that supports prospective students with study choice and current students with study or career questions, assessments, workshops and advice. Language Buddies offer peer support for improving language skills, and the university describes support arrangements for students with functional disabilities. International students can approach the International Office about practical, non-academic matters such as municipal registration, residence permits, health insurance, banking, accommodation and working while studying. Academic and programme questions go to the relevant degree programme or enrolment service. Housing requires particular caution. THUAS works with accommodation partners to offer a limited supply of furnished rooms, mainly for eligible first-year incoming international students, but says its service can assist only around half of incoming students. The 2026 housing-service fee is €275, separate from rent and other provider charges. For bachelor’s students, the published housing application deadline for the September 2026 cycle was 30 March 2026. Contracts are fixed-term and generally cannot be extended. Students without a placement must use the wider rental market, where THUAS warns that demand exceeds supply and advises searching in nearby municipalities as well as The Hague.

Location & Surroundings

The principal campus is at Johanna Westerdijkplein in The Hague, near The Hague Hollands Spoor railway station. The city is the seat of the Dutch government and hosts foreign embassies and numerous international institutions, giving students in relevant programmes access to a distinctive public-policy and international environment. It is also part of the densely connected Randstad region, with rail links to other Dutch cities. THUAS operates additional locations in The Hague and campuses in Delft and Zoetermeer. Delft is associated with technology, history and innovation, while the Zoetermeer campus is housed in the Dutch Innovation Factory and focuses on data, artificial intelligence and IT education. The Zuiderpark site serves sports-related education. Location is therefore academically consequential, not merely an accommodation detail. Students should check the programme page before choosing housing because travel requirements vary by campus. THUAS specifically suggests widening accommodation searches to nearby places such as Rijswijk, Voorburg and Delft. This can improve the search radius but may add commuting time. The Hague also faces a substantial student-housing shortage, so proximity to a campus should not be assumed even when an applicant uses the university’s housing service.

Costs & Career Outcomes

For 2026/27, THUAS lists a statutory tuition fee of €2,694 and a regular institutional fee of €10,528 for covered associate, bachelor’s and state-funded master’s programmes. A €14,000 institutional fee applies to full-time English-taught master’s programmes for students required to pay the institutional rate, subject to the stated transitional exception for students who began before 2026/27. Fee eligibility depends on nationality or residence status, previous Dutch higher-education qualifications and the programme. Applicants should use the official calculator because the lower statutory rate is not determined simply by being European or studying a bachelor’s degree. Students needing THUAS to arrange a Dutch study residence permit were asked to transfer a €26,000 package fee by 15 June 2026. This was not tuition alone: it covered first-year tuition, immigration charges and health insurance, while the remaining amount demonstrated required living funds and was to be returned after arrival into a Dutch bank account. Applicants should obtain the applicable intake’s instructions before paying. Accommodation adds substantial uncertainty. THUAS estimates private-market rent broadly at €500 to €1,000 per month and warns that affordable supply is limited. Books, insurance, food, transport and initial settlement costs also need a separate budget. University housing carries a €275 service fee in addition to rent. Career preparation is embedded in the applied model through competency development and engagement with professional practice. The Study & Career Centre offers career-choice information, workshops, assessments and advice. Outcomes, internships and professional recognition vary by degree, however; applicants should use the individual programme page to investigate placement structure, graduate roles and any requirements for regulated professions rather than infer a single institution-wide employment result.
