GEM began in 1984 as ESC Grenoble, with technology management at the center of its academic model. Its history includes early collaboration with Grenoble’s engineering sector, the introduction of apprenticeship routes, dual-degree arrangements with engineering schools and the development of doctoral-level management education. The institution became Grenoble École de Management before adopting the GEM Alpine Business School identity in November 2025. This was a continuation of the existing school rather than the creation of a different institution. Admission is program-specific, and GEM does not use one institution-wide undergraduate or graduate procedure. Applicants should first identify the credential, campus, language and entry year, then follow the corresponding program page. Requirements for the International BBA, Grande École, MSc, MBA and doctoral routes should not be treated as interchangeable. For first-year International BBA entry, candidates completing or holding a French Baccalauréat apply through Parcoursup and the Concours SESAME process, regardless of nationality. International admissions and entry into later BBA years use different procedures. The school states that international BBA selection is based on review of the application file and requires evidence appropriate to the requested entry level. The four-year International BBA illustrates the undergraduate model. It is offered in Grenoble and Paris, with English- or French-language options depending on the stage and route. The curriculum incorporates international exposure, language study, internships and possible exchange or double-degree opportunities. Student experience depends on both program and campus. In Grenoble, students study within a large university city, but GEM’s own facilities are separate from Grenoble Alpes University. The school’s main Alps Campus is on Rue Pierre Semard, while GEM Labs is on Avenue des Martyrs. Students should confirm where their classes are scheduled rather than treating the two sites as a single building. Fees vary widely by credential and delivery format, so there is no defensible single institutional tuition figure. On the official International BBA page available in August 2026, tuition is listed at €11,950 for each of Years 1 and 2 and €12,550 for each of Years 3 and 4. The page lists a €315 Concours SESAME application fee for first-year applicants and €98 for international admissions into Years 1–3. In an eligible fourth-year work-study arrangement, the host company may cover all or part of tuition. These figures apply to the BBA page and should not be transferred to MSc, Grande École, MBA or doctoral study. Living costs are additional.
