Student Life & Environment

Student life is organized around a small engineering cohort: the school’s current student-life page describes an entering class of 85, while its broader engineering page gives an approximate figure of 90. This scale supports frequent contact with teaching, research, and administrative teams, but it also means that the experience is more intimate and specialized than at a large multidisciplinary university. The principal student organizations are the Bureau des élèves, Bureau des sports, and Bureau des arts. Location & Surroundings

ESPCI’s address is 10 Rue Vauquelin in Paris’s fifth arrondissement, within the Quartier Latin. This places students in a dense academic district near other higher-education and research institutions rather than on a self-contained residential campus. The setting provides access to the wider facilities, courses, associations, and services of Université PSL and to the cultural resources of central Paris. The location is well suited to students who value an urban academic environment, but accommodation requires planning. ESPCI explicitly advises international students to begin their Paris housing search early. School-linked rooms are distributed across several locations: Montrouge, south of Paris; a CROUS residence near Gare de Lyon; and shared apartments in the 13th and 19th arrondissements. Consequently, living on the Vauquelin site should not be assumed, and commuting is normal. The Montrouge residence is described as roughly 30 minutes from the school. Costs & Career Outcomes

ESPCI’s current tuition-and-scholarship page did not publish engineering-cycle tuition amounts as of 20 August 2026. Applicants should therefore request the applicable 2026–27 or 2027–28 registration charges directly from the school and should not use fees advertised for a specialized master’s program as a proxy for the engineering diploma.
