About APU
Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) began in 1993 as the Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT), set up as part of a Malaysian government push to train more IT professionals. It became a university college in 2004 and later a full university, and in 2017 moved to a purpose-built campus in Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil, in southern Kuala Lumpur.
APU is best known for computing and technology, but it also teaches engineering, business, accounting and finance, actuarial studies, psychology, hospitality and tourism, international relations, media, design, animation and architecture. Bachelor's degrees take three years (four for engineering), and many are offered under the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme, which awards a second degree from De Montfort University in the UK. APU is accredited by the UK's Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), and its engineering degrees are accredited under the Washington Accord.
The student body is unusually international: APU says more than half of its students are international, from over 130 countries. It suits career-focused students who want an English-taught, industry-linked degree in a big Asian city, with several start dates a year and entry routes through its own foundation and diploma programmes.

APU runs several intakes a year and its intake calendar shows only the next dates; 2027 degree intake dates were not yet listed. There is no single application deadline, but the intake calendar says international students must apply 2 months before their chosen intake.
How to apply
Apply online at admissions.apu.edu.my (or through APU counsellors or an authorised overseas representative) with certified copies of your qualifications, English translations if needed and English test results; you can apply with forecast results for a conditional offer. After receiving an offer, pay the RM 3,600 pre-arrival processing fee and send passport copies, photos and a health declaration so APU can apply for your student visa through Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS).
What admissions looks for
- Completion of an accepted pre-university qualification such as A-levels, STPM, UEC, a foundation or an equivalent 12th-grade certificate.
- A credit in Mathematics at SPM/IGCSE/O-level or equivalent; applicants with only a pass take a prerequisite Mathematics module.
- Minimum English proficiency, such as IELTS 5.0 for Information Technology.
- For engineering and some other programmes, subject requirements set by Malaysia's programme standards.

APU's 2017 campus in Technology Park Malaysia is built around The Spine, a covered walkway running from the main entrance to the far end of the campus, with teaching, social and study spaces branching off it and a Centre Point used for cultural events. With students from over 130 countries, clubs, societies and cultural activities are a big part of campus life. APU runs on-campus and off-campus residences and the Campus Connect shuttle bus, and the campus is close to Bukit Jalil LRT station.
