About AASTMT
The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) began in 1972 in Alexandria as a project of the Arab League's transport committee and is still operated by the League. It started by training ship officers and marine engineers, then added bachelor's degrees under the American credit-hour system. Its certificates are recognised as equivalent to those of Egyptian universities.
Today the Academy lists colleges of Maritime Transport and Technology, Engineering and Technology, Computing and Information Technology, Management and Technology, International Transport and Logistics, Language and Communication, Fisheries Technology and Aquaculture, Artificial Intelligence, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Medicine and Law, among others. Programmes run in Arabic, English or French, depending on the college. The headquarters are in Alexandria, with campuses in Cairo (Heliopolis, Dokki, Smart Village), Al Burouj, El Alamein, Port Said, Aswan, and Latakia in Syria.
AASTMT is a good fit for students who want a practical, industry-linked degree in transport, engineering or computing, and who are comfortable with an Egyptian admissions system that ranks applicants by their secondary-school percentage. Several programmes are offered as joint degrees with foreign universities for an extra per-semester fee. Fees are set in US dollars, and international applicants pay a higher band than Egyptian and Sudanese nationals.
Why students choose AASTMT
Maritime Transport and Technology is the Academy's founding field, with practical sea training alongside the classroom programme.
Selected programmes are offered as dual degrees with universities such as Northampton, Coventry, Hull, Cardiff Metropolitan, Plymouth and Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, at an added per-semester fee.
Its certificates are recognised as equivalent to those granted by Egyptian universities in fields such as engineering and management.
Campuses in Alexandria, Cairo, Aswan, Port Said and El Alamein let students choose a city, and dormitories and buses are available for an extra fee.

- 2 Check the fee band for your certificate and college: the same programme is priced in three bands (A, B, C) that depend on your school percentage.
- 3 If your country's embassy requires approval for study abroad (the Academy names Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Jordan, Oman and Qatar), get the embassy letter before you apply.
