About VILNIUS TECH
VILNIUS TECH began in 1956 as the Vilnius evening division of the Kaunas Polytechnic Institute, became the independent Vilnius Civil Engineering Institute (VISI) in 1969, and took the name of Grand Duke Gediminas in 1996. It now reports more than 8,600 students, 97 study programmes and more than 1,720 international students, and it describes itself as the most international university in Lithuania.
The university is organised into faculties of Architecture, Business Management, Civil Engineering, Creative Industries, Electronics, Environmental Engineering, Fundamental Sciences, Mechanics and Transport Engineering, plus the Antanas Gustaitis Aviation Institute and, most recently, the Lithuanian Maritime Academy in Klaipėda. Civil engineering and architecture are its historic core; it calls itself the national leader in the engineering disciplines group in Lithuania.
Admission for international students is transparent and grade-based: a school certificate with at least 60% overall, an entrance score built from mathematics, a science or social science subject and English, a recorded video interview and, for Architecture, an entrance test. Fees are modest by European standards, from 3,600 to 9,000 euros a year for non-EU bachelor's students. It suits practical, technically minded students who want an English-taught engineering, IT or design degree in an affordable EU capital.

Non-EU bachelor's fees for 2026-27 start at 3,950 euros a year for business programmes and 4,950 euros for engineering and IT degrees.
Tuition-free and 50% or 25% scholarships for first-year international bachelor's students are awarded for all four years if you have no academic debts.

How to apply
Apply online through the DreamApply system at apply.vilniustech.lt and pay the 100-euro application fee. You are then invited to record a video interview within five days, the International Studies Centre checks your documents (legalised or apostilled, with official English translations), and admitted students receive a conditional acceptance letter, pay the first year's tuition plus a 200-euro registration fee, and apply for a Temporary Residence Permit through VFS Global. EU citizens can also apply for state-funded places.
What admissions looks for
- A school leaving certificate with a cumulative average of at least 60%.
- Strong grades in mathematics, a science or social science subject, and English, which make up the entrance score.
- English at around B2 level (IELTS 5.5 or equivalent).
- For scholarships: grades of at least 70% or 80%, a motivation letter, two academic references and extracurricular activities related to the chosen programme.
Tips for applying to VILNIUS TECH
- 1 Apply before the April scholarship deadline: a single application covers both admission and scholarship consideration, but late applications are not considered for scholarships.
- 2 Start document legalisation (apostille or consular legalisation) and official English translations early, as self-translated documents are rejected.
- 3 Prepare for the recorded video interview, which you must complete within five days of the invitation and which is reviewed by the faculty.
- 4 Non-EU students should budget for the first year's tuition up front, since it is paid before the residence permit process starts, and show at least 7,500 euros a year in a bank account.

Student life
Most students are based on the Saulėtekis campus in a wooded district of Vilnius, next to several Vilnius University faculties, while Architecture and Creative Industries work from the Old Town and the Aviation Institute is near the airport. The university has six dormitories in Vilnius and one in Klaipėda, typically blocks of two double rooms sharing a kitchen and bathroom. About one in five students is international. Student traditions go back decades: the choir Gabija dates from the 1960s, and the university runs a sports and arts centre and a student representation (VILNIUS TECH SA).

Location
Vilnius is Lithuania's capital, with a UNESCO-listed Old Town and a compact, green city centre. The main Saulėtekis campus is in the east of the city among pine woods and is linked to the centre by trolleybus and express bus routes, while other faculties sit in the Old Town and Naujamiestis. Tuition and living costs are lower than in most Western European capitals.
