Student Life & Environment

Student life is centered principally at Main Campus, where classrooms, student services, recreation, dining, and university-operated housing are concentrated. The university reports more than 450 student organizations, giving students options for academic, cultural, service, professional, recreational, and social involvement. Campus Recreation provides fitness and wellness programming, aquatics, outdoor pursuits, intramural and club sports, and recreation facilities at both Main and Downtown campuses. Housing and Residence Life lists six university residence communities: five serving Main Campus and the Continental community serving Downtown Campus. Housing arrangements include semester-based leases, utilities, internet access, and laundry. The university also offers themed residential communities organized around shared academic or personal interests. Applicants should verify current availability and contract terms directly; an application does not itself establish that a room is available. The Roadrunner identity connects students across locations, but day-to-day experiences can differ substantially. Main Campus provides the most conventional residential setting, Downtown places students closer to civic and technology partners, and the Health Science Center is oriented toward professional and clinical education. Students whose schedules cross locations should examine transportation and timetable implications before committing to housing.

Location & Surroundings

UT San Antonio is distributed across San Antonio rather than confined to one campus. Main Campus is at One UTSA Circle in northwest San Antonio and contains many of the university’s colleges, student services, research facilities, and residential-life resources. Park West Athletics Complex is approximately two miles away. The Health Science Center is located in the South Texas Medical Center area and houses the university’s major health-professions schools. Downtown Campus is positioned between San Antonio’s historic West Side and the central business district. Nearby San Pedro I and II extend that campus along San Pedro Creek, with facilities oriented toward computing, innovation, engagement, and career preparation. Southwest Campus and One Riverwalk Place add locations near the urban core and River Walk. This multi-site model offers access to different parts of a major Texas city, but campus location should be a practical part of program selection. Prospective students should identify where required courses, laboratories, clinical activities, advising, and student services are based. Commuting requirements may be materially different for a Main Campus undergraduate, a Downtown computing student, and a Health Science Center student.

Costs & Career Outcomes

For 2026–2027, UT San Antonio estimates tuition and fees of $11,476 for a full-time Texas-resident undergraduate taking 15 credit hours per term across fall and spring. Its estimated total annual cost of attendance is $22,944 for a student living with parents, $30,946 for a student living off campus, and $31,840 for a student living on campus. These budgets include estimated books and supplies, housing, meals, transportation, personal expenses, and average federal loan fees. They are planning figures, not a promise of the amount billed. Upper-level undergraduate courses in several colleges carry differential charges per scheduled credit hour: $42 in business, $50 in sciences, $55 in engineering and integrated design, and $42 in AI, cyber, and computing. The official cost page warns that figures could be adjusted following action by the UT System Board of Regents. Nonresident, graduate, online-only, and professional health students should use their applicable cost table rather than the resident-undergraduate figures above. Career support includes Handshake access, job and internship search assistance, career fairs, workshops, résumé and interview guidance, employer recruiting, and individual consultations. Paid micro-internships and other experiential opportunities are also promoted. These resources provide useful infrastructure, but the university does not guarantee employment or a particular salary; students should evaluate career preparation in relation to their program, experience, licensure needs, and target field.
