About UVa
The University of Valladolid (UVa) says its origins go back to the 13th century and gives 1241 as its founding year. It works on four campuses in Castilla y León, in the cities of Palencia, Segovia, Soria and Valladolid, and has about 19,000 students and 2,480 professors.
The university teaches 68 bachelor's degrees, 15 joint-study programmes, 65 master's degrees and 29 doctoral programmes in 26 centres, with 59 departments, 12 university institutes and four research and technology centres. Its fields run from Sciences, Humanities and Engineering and Architecture to Health Sciences and Social and Legal Sciences. Its historic building on the Plaza de Santa María has a Baroque facade built in 1715.
For international students the route is procedural rather than selective. Applicants from the EU, countries with educational agreements, or holders of the European or International Baccalaureate request an accreditation from UNED, Spain's distance university, and applicants from other systems obtain recognition of their school qualification and sit UNED's specific competence tests. Everyone must then submit the pre-enrolment for the Castilla y León public universities within the yearly deadline.
The UNED accreditation can include certification of language skills, so check each degree page for its teaching language. Fees are low: the 2026/27 price for a first-time credit runs from 10.41 to 18.45 euros depending on the degree.

How to apply
Get your UNED accreditation, then submit the online pre-enrolment for the Castilla y León public universities (up to 12 degrees in order of preference), check the admission lists, confirm waiting-list places and enrol within each round's dates. Documents are handed in at enrolment, not during pre-enrolment.

- An admission mark calculated from your school qualification (converted by UNED) and, where relevant, weighted specific-subject results.
- Recognised qualification equivalent to the Spanish baccalaureate.

Student life
UVa has four campuses in Palencia, Segovia, Soria and Valladolid.
