Founded by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals in March 2010, Tung Wah College became registered under Hong Kong’s Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance as a degree-awarding higher-education institution in 2011. It remains a self-financing college and was operating normally for the 2026/2027 intake. The official programme catalogue includes bachelor’s degrees, a Master of Smart Health Services Management and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing, as well as higher diplomas, certificates and short courses. The institution’s development is closely connected to the health and community-service experience of its founder. This is reflected in a programme portfolio that includes nursing, medical laboratory science, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, radiation therapy, medical imaging, biomedical science and applied gerontology. Arts, education, psychology, management and sustainability broaden the offering beyond healthcare. The College reports four academic schools: Arts and Humanities, Management, Medical and Health Sciences, and Nursing. Tung Wah College is an urban, multi-campus institution rather than a single residential campus. King’s Park and Mongkok form its central Kowloon presence, while additional teaching locations operate in Kwai Hing and Tsim Sha Tsui. The official 2026/2027 prospectus should be treated as a programme overview rather than a contractual statement: it says its information was accurate in January 2026 and may subsequently be revised. Students should therefore verify the latest curriculum, accreditation status, fees and teaching location for their chosen programme before accepting an offer.

Admission is programme- and applicant-specific. For first-year bachelor’s entry, the general HKDSE threshold from 2024/2025 onward is Level 3 in Chinese and English, Level 2 in compulsory Mathematics, Attained in Citizenship and Social Development, and Level 2 in one elective or Applied Learning subject. Meeting this general minimum does not guarantee admission, and individual programmes may set subject preferences, interviews or other conditions. The College also publishes routes for applicants holding the International Baccalaureate, mainland Chinese examinations and other qualifications. Its general requirement for the IB Diploma is at least 24 points plus the specified English-language result. Mainland applicants and holders of other non-local credentials should consult the dedicated equivalency and non-local admissions guidance rather than assume that HKDSE rules apply. Senior-year admission is available only for designated programmes and depends on prior study. For 2026/2027, applications to directly admitted undergraduate and sub-degree programmes were submitted through the College’s online admissions system, generally opening from mid-October. Some government-subsidized programme places use JUPAS, while specified non-JUPAS applicants may apply directly. The PhD in Nursing uses a separate process and interviews shortlisted applicants. As deadlines, quotas and assessment arrangements vary, applicants should follow the page for the exact programme, entry year, residency category and admissions route.

For 2026/2027, the official catalogue lists 13 bachelor’s programmes. Health-related choices include nursing, biomedical science, forensic biomedical science, medical imaging, medical laboratory science, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, radiation therapy, applied gerontology, and health information and services management. Other undergraduate options cover early childhood education, applied psychology, and social and business sustainability. Several programmes admit both first-year and senior-year entrants, but availability and entry routes differ by programme. The postgraduate portfolio is smaller and specialized. The Master of Smart Health Services Management provides taught postgraduate study, while the Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing is a research doctorate launched in 2026. The PhD focuses on applied nursing research and identifies areas including infection control, mental health and wellbeing, care for older people, digital health, and complementary and alternative medicine. Its normal duration is three years full time or four years part time. Applied learning is a central feature of the undergraduate experience. The College’s new-student information identifies a Work-Integrated Learning Programme internship as a non-credit-bearing graduation requirement for degree students, alongside college seminars and community service. Nursing and allied-health programmes also incorporate profession-specific education and clinical or practicum preparation. Prospective students should examine the individual programme pages closely: professional recognition, health or vision expectations, interviews, subject preferences, placement commitments and programme length are not uniform. For example, the nursing bachelor’s degree is structured over five years, while many other first-year-entry bachelor’s degrees run for four years.

Student Life & Environment

Student life is organized across four urban teaching sites, so the experience differs from that of a compact residential university. The Student Affairs Office supports student organizations, personal development, counselling, inclusion, career preparation and assistance for non-local students and students with special educational needs. New students can also access orientation resources and peer mentoring. The student organization roster includes a Students’ Association, programme-linked academic societies and interest groups covering art, astronomy, board games, dance, dragon boating, film, music, outdoor activities and sport. Service and leadership opportunities include Rotaract, a leadership network, student ambassador activities and community-service programming. This range provides ways to participate beyond a student’s own professional programme, although activities may be based at different campuses. Tung Wah College announced an arrangement giving non-local students priority for approximately 130 places in furnished double and triple suites in Tsim Sha Tsui beginning in 2025/2026. The facility was described as including private bathrooms, Wi-Fi, shared pantries, laundry facilities, exercise equipment and common areas. Because that announcement did not establish guaranteed accommodation for every later intake, 2026/2027 applicants should ask the College directly about current availability, rent, lease terms and allocation procedures before relying on it.

Location & Surroundings

Tung Wah College operates at four Hong Kong locations. King’s Park Campus is at 31 Wylie Road in Homantin, while Mongkok Campus occupies buildings on Shantung Street. The other sites are in Kowloon Commerce Centre near Kwai Hing station and on Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. Students should confirm where their programme and specialist facilities are based, because teaching and activities may require travel between sites. The campuses are integrated into dense urban districts with extensive public transport. The College estimates that King’s Park is about a ten-minute walk from Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei or Mong Kok East MTR stations. Mongkok Campus is approximately five minutes from Mong Kok or Mong Kok East, Kwai Hing Campus is connected to Kwai Hing station by a roughly two-minute covered walk, and Tsim Sha Tsui Campus is about five minutes from Tsim Sha Tsui or Jordan stations. These locations provide convenient access to central Kowloon and the wider rail network, but they do not constitute a secluded residential campus. Housing, commuting time and the assigned teaching site should therefore be considered together when budgeting.

Costs & Career Outcomes

Tuition varies substantially by programme, duration, residency status and subsidy eligibility. For local students entering in 2026/2027, the published annual gross charge was HK$64,390 in the first two years of the applied psychology bachelor’s degree and HK$130,760 for first-year-entry nursing. Several laboratory and allied-health programmes carried higher gross annual charges. Eligible local students may receive support through the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions or Sectors or the Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme, but the applicable scheme and net amount differ by programme. The College states that fees may be adjusted according to Hong Kong’s Composite Consumer Price Index and are normally collected in two annual instalments. Non-local students have a separate 2026/2027 fee schedule and are not presented as receiving the same local subsidies. Published average annual examples include HK$84,750 for applied psychology and HK$122,850 for biomedical science. Applicants should budget separately for housing, transport, insurance, equipment, placements and other charges, then request a current total for their programme. Career preparation includes work-integrated learning, a job portal, résumé support, mock interviews and advising. In the College’s survey of 2024 graduates, based on 669 respondents and an almost 88% response rate, 78% reported securing employment and 8.8% continued studying. Those results describe one graduating cohort rather than a guarantee for future students; programme-level professional recognition and outcomes should be checked individually.
