About TalTech
Tallinn University of Technology, known since 2018 as TalTech, traces its founding to 17 September 1918, when the Estonian Engineering Society opened its Special Engineering Courses. It is Estonia's only university of technology, covering engineering, IT, business, law, natural sciences and maritime studies across its School of Engineering, School of Information Technologies, School of Science, School of Business and Governance and the Estonian Maritime Academy. It has about 9,929 students, 8.4 percent of them international, and more than 82,000 graduates.
Most degrees are taught in Estonian, but TalTech runs four bachelor's and 14 master's programmes fully in English. The bachelor's options are Cyber Security Engineering, Integrated Engineering, International Business Administration and Law. Cybersecurity is a particular draw: Estonia runs almost all public services online and hosts NATO's Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, and TalTech's own alumni include one of the first Skype developers and the architect of e-Residency.
Admission to the English programmes is by threshold rather than quota: you apply once a year via DreamApply, pass a programme test and an online interview, and are admitted if you reach the required score. The green Mustamäe campus holds dormitories, a sports centre and more than 50 tech companies, and TalTech says its formula student team, FS Team Tallinn, is ranked first in the world among more than 1,000 teams.

TalTech publishes no acceptance rate. International programmes admit by threshold: for example, Integrated Engineering and Cyber Security Engineering require 60 points in the online test and 60 in the interview and motivation assessment, and Law requires a combined 50 points. Applicants need at least 60 percent of the highest possible school grade average.

TalTech admits once a year, for the autumn semester (studies began on 31 August in 2026). The dates above are from the 2026 cycle and are shown as past; expect the 2027 window to open around February 2027.
How to apply
Apply online through DreamApply: add a motivation letter of 3,000 to 5,500 characters (AI-generated text is not accepted), upload scans of your education documents with official English translations, passport and English test result, and pay the 100-euro application fee, which covers two programmes. After a preliminary check within 7 working days you take the programme's online test and interview. Conditionally admitted students send documents by post, and non-EU students pay the first year's tuition before final acceptance. Estonian citizens and long-term residents apply through SAIS instead.
What admissions looks for
- A secondary qualification with at least 60 percent of the highest possible average that gives university access in your home country.
- A passing score on the programme's online test, such as the mathematics test for International Business Administration.
- A genuine, well-referenced motivation letter and a strong online interview; AI-generated motivation letters lead to dismissal.
- English at IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 75 level by the application deadline.
Tips for applying to TalTech
- 1 Non-EU applicants face the earliest deadline (1 April in 2026), so book IELTS or TOEFL well before February.
- 2 Try the sample online test published on the Cyber Security Engineering page before you apply.

Integrated Engineering (BSc)
Combines mechanics, electronics, programming and robotics with many lab projects; 6,000 euros a year for non-EU students, free for EU.

Student life
TalTech's green Mustamäe campus puts study buildings, dormitories, a sports club and more than 50 tech companies in one place. Student life is organised around nearly 40 student organisations, from satellite building to event management, and the formula student team builds a new car from scratch every year. Students can also take courses at other technical universities through the EuroTeQ network, and an alumni community of more than 82,000 graduates helps with contacts after graduation.

Tallinn is the capital of Estonia, a small Nordic country where nearly all public services are online and which TalTech describes as one of Europe's leading start-up ecosystems. TalTech's main campus is in the Mustamäe district, and the university also has colleges in Tartu and Kohtla-Järve and the Estonian Maritime Academy.
