Location & Surroundings

The main campus is in Klamath Falls in south-central Oregon, about 20 miles from the California border. It occupies a hillside setting on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains overlooking Upper Klamath Lake. The location offers a smaller-city, outdoor-oriented environment, but it is geographically distant from Oregon's largest metropolitan areas. Oregon Tech estimates driving times of about five hours from Portland, three hours from Eugene, and just under three hours from Redding. Students traveling in winter should account for mountain conditions. The Portland-Metro campus is in Wilsonville, approximately 15 miles south of downtown Portland. It provides access to the metropolitan area's technology and industrial corridor but operates primarily as an urban commuter campus. Its scheduling and program mix are designed in part for transfer students, working professionals, and adult learners. Location should therefore be treated as an academic and lifestyle choice, not merely a housing decision. Applicants should verify that their program is offered at the campus they prefer. Klamath Falls is the appropriate comparison point for residence halls and a traditional campus community; Wilsonville offers metropolitan access and flexible scheduling without the same residential structure.
