How Admissions Work
OIT uses several distinct undergraduate selection routes for entry in April 2027, including comprehensive-selection examinations, school recommendation, general selection, an international-student examination, and separate routes for returnees, working adults, and third-year transfers. Requirements and calendars differ, so applicants should use the guide for their own category rather than combining information from multiple routes. The general domestic process may include OIT examinations or Japan’s Common Test for University Admissions, depending on the route. For the 2027 international undergraduate examination, applications are scheduled for August 24–31, 2026. The first stage is document review, with results on October 7; successful candidates proceed to an interview on October 17 at the campus corresponding to their intended faculty. Final results are scheduled for November 2. The route is open across all undergraduate faculties and departments, subject to the detailed eligibility rules. International applicants must be able to understand Japanese-medium classes. The published requirements call for either at least 200 on the Japanese section of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students, excluding writing, or JLPT N2 or above.
