About Narxoz
Narxoz University was founded in 1963 as the Almaty Institute of National Economy. It gained university status in 1994, became a corporation in 2002 and returned to the historical name Narxoz in 2015, according to its official timeline. The campus is on Dzhandosov Street in Almaty, and the university lists a 2022 reconstruction of its main building and four dormitories with more than 1,000 places.
Teaching is organised in five schools: Economics and Management, Arts and Social Sciences, Digital Technologies, Law and Public Policy, and Narxoz Business School. Narxoz does not publish an acceptance rate. Programme pages list minimum scores for paid places and for state grants, for example a minimum of 75 points for Cybersecurity made up of English (maximum 50, minimum 25) and a readiness test (maximum 30, minimum 7), plus subject tests. International applicants attend an online interview.

How to apply
Complete the application form on the university's site and upload a school certificate or diploma with transcript and your passport. Attend an online interview with university representatives and watch your email for the invitation. After a positive decision, sign the study agreement, pay tuition, and obtain a visa invitation letter through the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which the International Welcome Center helps to prepare and which may take up to 30 days. Then apply for the student visa at a Kazakh embassy or consulate.
What admissions looks for

Student life
Narxoz's campus is in central Almaty, and most student services run through the Platonus system, including dormitory applications. The university has four dormitories, including the modern Emen building with three-person rooms with private bathrooms, a coffee shop, mini-market and medical station. Clubs and events include sports cups, a Narxoz President's Cup and student quiz nights. Almaty is described in the international students' guide as a high-tech city where most payments are made by bank transfer, card or QR code, and buses are paid with the ONAY card.

Location
Almaty is the most populous city in Kazakhstan, with more than two million residents, lying in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains at 700 to 900 metres. The Narxoz campus is on Dzhandosov Street 55. Newcomers are told to buy a local SIM card at the airport, which is registered to their passport, and to use apps such as 2GIS and Yandex taxi.
