About NTU Singapore
NTU began in 1981 as the Nanyang Technological Institute on the former Nanyang University campus in western Singapore, and became a full university in 1991, taking in the National Institute of Education. Its main campus at 50 Nanyang Avenue covers about 200 hectares, the largest university campus in Singapore, and a medical campus sits in the Novena healthcare district.
The university is organised into colleges: Engineering, Computing and Data Science, Science, Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, Nanyang Business School, and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, alongside the National Institute of Education (Singapore's teacher-training institute) and the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies. In AY2025-26 it enrolled 25,010 undergraduates and 15,729 graduate students. Business (2,166 students), Computer Science (1,815) and Mechanical Engineering (1,678) are the largest undergraduate programmes.
NTU is the place for students who want engineering, computing or business in a residential campus setting, with a large menu of double degrees and double majors. It is also more accessible than its rankings suggest: in 2025, admitted A-level students to Mechanical Engineering ranged from CCD/C to AAA/A, while Computer Science and Medicine were near-straight-A.

NTU publishes no overall admit rate. Its Indicative Grade Profile for AY2025-26 shows 10th to 90th percentile A-level profiles of AAA/A to AAA/A for Medicine and Renaissance Engineering, AAB/C to AAA/A for Computer Science, BBC/B to AAA/A for Business and Accountancy, and CCD/C to AAA/A for Mechanical Engineering.

How to apply
Apply online through NTU's undergraduate application portal, listing programme choices and uploading results. Fee: S$25 for international applicants, S$15 for Singapore citizens and PRs. Medicine requires two online referee reports and Multiple Mini Interviews; Art, Design and Media requires a portfolio submitted within the application period.

- Aptitude beyond grades through Aptitude-Based Admissions, which NTU counts in its published grade profiles.

Tips for applying to NTU Singapore
- 1 Check which of the two international deadlines applies to you: many Asian national qualifications close on 20 January 2027, two months before IB and UK A-level applicants.
- 2 If your qualification needs an English test, SAT (1250 with 60 in Reading and Writing) or ACT (30) can count instead of IELTS or TOEFL.
- 3 Indicate interest in the MOE Tuition Grant on your application; you cannot get it later, and the grant comes with a three-year Singapore work bond for non-citizens.
- 4 Compare your grades with the Indicative Grade Profile: engineering programmes admit a wider grade range than computing, business or medicine, which can be a strategic first choice.

Singapore citizens receive the MOE Tuition Grant automatically. PRs and international students must indicate interest on the application and, if offered it, sign an agreement to work for a Singapore entity for three years after graduating, with two sureties; otherwise they pay non-subsidised fees. NTU also offers scholarships and awards for freshmen and needs-based financial aid.

Student life
NTU is one of the few Singapore universities where most students' social life is based on campus. The Yunnan Garden campus, a former Nanyang University site, is large and green, with halls of residence spread around the grounds. Hall life, with sports, performances and orientation camps, shapes the first years for many students. Landmark buildings such as The Hive (a Heatherwick-designed learning hub) and the Art, Design and Media building with its sloping grass roof are part of daily life.

Location
NTU's main campus is in the far west of Singapore, in the Western Water Catchment area, well away from the downtown core. The campus feels like a town of its own, with food courts, sports facilities and halls on site, and students head into the city by bus and MRT. Singapore is safe, English-speaking and hot and humid all year, and the Novena medical campus puts medical students in the heart of the city's healthcare district.
