About MEU

Middle East University (MEU) was inaugurated in Amman on 30 June 2005 and received its first students, in twelve master's programmes, at the start of the second semester of 2005/2006. Its bachelor's programmes launched in 2008/2009. The campus is on the Queen Alia International Airport road, about 15 minutes from the city centre, and the university says it has produced 4,214 undergraduate alumni across 21 majors and 2,978 postgraduate graduates.

MEU has nine faculties. Its published undergraduate list includes Arts and Educational Sciences, Law, Business, Information Technology, Media, Engineering and Design, Pharmacy, Allied Medical Sciences and Nursing, plus a Technical College. Its best-known international feature is that it hosts British programmes on campus: with the University of Bedfordshire for jointly awarded degrees, and a joint pharmacy programme with the University of Strathclyde. It holds ISO 9001:2015 and the Golden Level Quality Assurance certificate for the Faculty of Law from Jordan's accreditation commission.

The university is a private institution with many majors priced by the credit hour and a low minimum admission average (60% for most programmes). It suits students from Jordan and the wider Arab world looking for a career-focused degree in business, IT, media, health sciences or design, and students who want to combine a Jordanian degree with UK-linked programmes.

Selectivity

MEU publishes no acceptance rate. Admission depends on a minimum average in the General Secondary Education certificate (Tawjihi) or equivalent, which varies by major.

Testing Placement tests in Arabic, English and Computer at the first enrolment semester (25 JD or 35 USD per test); failing them means a 3-credit remedial course that does not count in the study plan.
Grades Minimum average: 60% for most majors, 65% for Law, 70% for Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Nutrition, Paramedic, Cosmetology and Nursing, 75% for IT majors and 80% for Pharmacy and Engineering. Non-Jordanians may be admitted with up to 10 marks less than the Jordanian average, provided they follow the required secondary streams.

Foreign certificatesEquivalence from the Jordanian Ministry of Education, or, for non-Jordanians, from their own country's authority; documents certified by the Jordanian embassy and the foreign ministry in the home country
Community college diploma (Jordan)Qualifying Exam average of at least 68% (70% for Pharmacy and Engineering) for equivalent majors

Deadlines

MEU does not publish fixed application deadlines on the pages checked; its academic calendar is a separate document. Confirm the intake dates with the Admission and Registration Department.

How to apply

Fill in the admission application online and attach the required documents, then pay the application fee online or at the university. The admission officer verifies the documents; the applicant then pays fees at the Financial Department, receives an admission certificate, registers courses, and gets a university ID from the Deanship of Student Affairs. Required documents include the Tawjihi transcript or equivalent, a passport or ID copy, a birth certificate, and two 6x4 cm photos.

What admissions looks for

  • Meeting the minimum Tawjihi or equivalent average for the chosen major.
  • Completing the required secondary stream for the major.
  • Attested and certified foreign documents.
  • Passing the placement tests or completing the remedial course.

Tips for applying to MEU

  1. 1 Get your foreign school certificate certified by the Jordanian embassy and your foreign ministry before you travel to Amman.
  2. 2 Check the minimum average for your major first: it ranges from 60% to 80%, and non-Jordanians can be admitted with up to 10 marks less.
  3. 3 Prepare for the Arabic, English and Computer placement tests in your first semester; a score of 80% or above also exempts you from the first-level course 101.
  4. 4 Look at the UK degrees route with Bedfordshire if you want a jointly awarded degree.

Costs & financial aid

2025 (latest published table; MEU's fee pages carry a 2025 copyright and no newer table was found) · figures in JOD

Per year, derived from the per-credit-hour price in MEU's undergraduate majors table (JD 50 for Arabic Language to JD 120 for Pharmacy; the table does not label the unit, but MEU's own regulations treat tuition as a per-hour charge separate from the flat 500 JD per-semester registration fee). Annualised as price x 30 credit hours (two regular semesters of 15 credit hours, the semester equivalence used in MEU's rules), so 1,500 to 3,600 JD (about 2,100 to 5,550 USD at the table's own USD column); actual cost depends on the hours you register (maximum load 18 per regular semester). Full-programme tuition is the price times the plan hours, for example 6,600 JD for Arabic Language (132 hours) and 19,200 JD for Pharmacy (160 hours). Excludes the registration fee (500 JD per regular semester) and other charges. The table shows the same rates for Jordanian and non-Jordanian students. Tuition JOD 1,500 – JOD 3,600
