Krea University is a private, residential university in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, established in 2018 and recognized by India’s University Grants Commission. Its two principal schools are the School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences and the IFMR Graduate School of Business. Academic options include liberal arts and sciences bachelor’s degrees, an integrated BBA–MBA, a two-year MBA, an MSc in Clinical Psychology, and doctoral study. Krea’s undergraduate model begins with interdisciplinary study before students settle on a major, while its business school provides a more structured management curriculum. The university is best suited to students comfortable with a comparatively young institution, a residential campus outside a major city, and curricula that connect disciplines, research, internships, and applied projects.

About Krea University

Krea University began under Andhra Pradesh’s private-university framework in 2018. The University Grants Commission records it as a private university, providing authoritative confirmation that it is an independent, degree-granting institution rather than merely a business school or research centre. Its principal campus is at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, while an administrative office operates in Chennai. The university is organized around the School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences, commonly called SIAS, and the IFMR Graduate School of Business. SIAS covers undergraduate liberal arts and sciences education as well as doctoral research. IFMR GSB offers the integrated BBA–MBA, the two-year MBA, doctoral study in management, and executive education. Krea also provides oversight to several research centres working in areas such as development, public policy, inclusion, environmental sustainability, and the humanities. Krea describes its educational approach as Interwoven Learning. In practice, this means combining disciplinary depth with writing, quantitative reasoning, ethics, research, and exposure to other fields. Prospective students should nevertheless compare the structures of the individual schools carefully: the flexible SIAS undergraduate curriculum differs substantially from the professionally oriented management programs at IFMR GSB. Krea is also a relatively new university, so applicants may wish to weigh the benefits of a developing institution against the longer records and larger alumni networks of older Indian universities.

How Admissions Work

Admissions are program-specific. For the 2026 SIAS undergraduate intake, applicants submitted an online application covering their personal story, academic record from Grades 9–12, and extracurricular activities. The next stage was the 80-minute online Krea Assessment Test, covering problem-solving, critical thinking and verbal ability, numerical reasoning, and writing. Shortlisted applicants could proceed to an online case-analysis exercise and a 15-minute faculty interaction. Eligible SAT, ACT, or Ei CREST results could affect the assessment route, but applicants should verify the rules for the next intake. Every undergraduate offer remains conditional on passing Class XII or an equivalent qualification. Selection is holistic and completing all stages does not guarantee an offer. The published 2026 rounds ended in June, and the university’s schedule now states that admissions for the Class of 2027 will open soon. Consequently, the 2026 dates should not be reused as future deadlines. The integrated BBA–MBA and two-year MBA use separate eligibility tests and interviews, while doctoral applicants follow school- and research-area-specific requirements. Prospective graduate students should use the page for their exact program rather than extrapolating from SIAS undergraduate rules. International applicants should also obtain written confirmation regarding qualification equivalency, visa documentation, and any program-specific English-language requirements because no single university-wide international threshold was verified.

Academic Experience

At SIAS, the undergraduate offering includes BA, BSc, BA Honours, and BSc Honours pathways. The published program structure describes three years of full-time residential study with an optional fourth year of Advanced Studies. Students encounter multiple disciplines in their first year and ordinarily choose a major in the second year. Current listed majors include Economics, Social Studies, Literature, Biological Sciences, Computer Science, Psychology, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. Joint-major combinations and minors permit additional breadth, although availability and graduation rules should be confirmed for the entering cohort. The curriculum places majors and minors within humanities and social sciences, literature and the arts, and sciences. SIAS describes its majors as writing-intensive, interdisciplinary, research-based, and attentive to ethics, historical context, data, and technology. Students complete core study and a final-year capstone project or thesis. Internships, research projects, and selected global opportunities are intended to connect classroom work with external settings. IFMR GSB provides a five-year integrated management route that awards a BBA after three years and an integrated MBA after five, as well as a separate two-year MBA. The MBA curriculum includes core and elective work across communications, data science and information systems, economics, finance and accounting, quantitative finance, marketing, organizational behaviour and human resources, operations, and strategy, plus a summer internship. Krea also lists an MSc in Clinical Psychology. Doctoral study is offered through Krea Doctoral College within SIAS and IFMR GSB, with full-time and certain part-time routes across sciences, humanities, social sciences, and management.

Key Highlights

  • UGC-listed private university established in 2018
  • Two principal schools: SIAS and IFMR Graduate School of Business
  • Residential campus in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh
  • Offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees

Student Life & Environment

Krea describes its Sri City campus as fully residential, making shared campus life a central part of the experience rather than an optional add-on. Students live in gender-specific residential towers with personal living spaces and common lounges. The campus also includes dining, library, healthcare, convenience, fitness, sports, and recreation facilities. Applicants with particular housing, accessibility, dietary, or medical requirements should request current details directly, since room arrangements and services can change. Student representation includes an elected council, while clubs and committees support academic interests, arts, recreation, sports, professional development, alumni relations, and campus events. The residential model brings SIAS, management, and doctoral students into common spaces, although their schedules and program cultures can differ. The university’s January 2026 wellbeing handbook identifies the University Health Centre as the first point of medical care and describes consultations, preventive guidance, emergency support, referrals, counselling, and inclusive-learning support. These services are meaningful for a campus located away from central Chennai, but students should understand referral and emergency procedures before enrolling. Recreational options include indoor and outdoor sports, student gathering spaces, cultural programming, and organized excursions in the surrounding region.

Location & Surroundings

Krea’s campus address is 5655 Central Expressway, Sri City, Andhra Pradesh 517646. Sri City is a planned industrial and commercial township near the Tamil Nadu–Andhra Pradesh border. The university describes the campus as approximately 70 kilometres north of Chennai; travel time and transport availability should be checked for the intended arrival date rather than inferred from distance alone. This setting offers a quieter, contained residential environment and proximity to companies operating in Sri City. It may suit students who value a campus-centered routine, but it is materially different from studying in central Chennai or another dense university district. The university acknowledges that the location can initially feel separated from city life. It reports weekend shuttle access to Chennai, though schedules and charges should be confirmed. Nearby destinations identified by Krea include Pulicat Lake, Tada Falls, Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary, Nagalapuram Falls, and Sriharikota. These expand weekend options, but students should not assume that metropolitan services or entertainment are immediately outside the campus.

Costs & Career Outcomes

For the SIAS undergraduate cohort entering in 2026–30, Krea published annual tuition of INR 875,000 and annual living expenses of INR 225,000, both explicitly subject to yearly revision. It also listed a INR 35,000 admission fee, INR 5,000 miscellaneous fee, and INR 50,000 refundable deposit. The first-year total shown by the university was INR 1,190,000. These figures apply specifically to that cohort and should not be treated as confirmed pricing for later entrants. SIAS states that undergraduate admission is need-blind while financial-assistance review is need-aware. Support is based on demonstrated financial circumstances and requires documentation. Awards, education loans, and conditions can vary, so applicants should compare the aid decision with the full multi-year cost, including travel and personal expenses, before accepting. Career support differs by school. The SIAS Career Services Office helps students explore internships, research assistance, work-study opportunities, industry projects, postgraduate study, and employment. Its most recent linked outcomes report covers academic year 2024–25, not the 2026 graduating market, so those outcomes should be read as historical context. IFMR GSB maintains its own corporate-relations and placement function for management students. Neither admission nor participation in career services guarantees a placement or salary, and applicants should request the latest program-level report, cohort size, methodology, and outcome definitions before comparing Krea with other institutions.
