About KIIT
Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) began in 1992-93 as an industrial training institution in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and 1997 is counted as the base year of the university, when engineering, management and computer applications degrees were added. It became a deemed university in 2004. In 2007 it added schools of law, biotechnology, medical sciences, dental sciences, nursing, mass communication, film and media and fashion. Today it is a private deemed university.
KIIT says it has more than 30,000 students in undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes and 10,000 more in other programmes, taught by over 3,000 faculty and researchers. About 2,000 of its students are international, from 65 countries. It describes its site as a 36 sq. km academic township of 30 campuses, with a 2,600-bed hospital (KIMS), a central library and 18 sports complexes. Its schools range from Computer Science and Engineering to Medical Sciences, Law, Fashion Technology and Film and Media Sciences.
For international applicants the draw is breadth and price: undergraduate tuition is published at 10,000 USD a year (8,000 USD for SAARC nationals), and English proficiency proof is not compulsory. How to apply
International applicants create an account on the KIIT International Admissions Portal, choose a programme, fill in personal and educational details, upload a passport photo, passport scan, transcripts and certificates, submit, then wait for the review. An offer letter is issued on the student dashboard; after confirming admission, the applicant collects a bonafide letter from the International Relations admissions team and applies for an Indian student visa.
