About GGSIPU
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU, also called IP University) was established in 1998 by an Act of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It is a teaching and affiliating university: it teaches on its own campuses and sets the rules for a large network of colleges. Its About page counts 111 affiliated institutes running 176 programmes, with a total university strength of 93,000-plus students (a figure that includes affiliated colleges). It holds an A++ grade from NAAC, valid seven years from 14 February 2023.
The main campus, in Sector 16-C, Dwarka, covers more than 60 acres and hosts nine university schools, including Basic and Applied Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemical Technology, Education, Environment Management, Humanities and Social Sciences, Information Technology, Law and Legal Studies, and Management Studies. A second campus at Surajmal Vihar in East Delhi is also listed. Its stated focus is professional education in engineering, technology, medicine, education, pharmacy, nursing and law.
For international applicants, the process is unusually plain: 25% of seats are set aside on a supernumerary basis for foreign nationals, PIOs and international students, admission is on marks in the qualifying examination, and published fees are in US dollars, with no provision for scholarships from the university. It suits students looking for an affordable state-university degree in Delhi and who are comfortable with a rules-based, marks-driven admission.

The brochure set 20 July 2026 as the deadline; a notice dated 4 August 2026 extended it to 14 August 2026. Admission process began 28 June 2026, with counselling in July 2026. Checked on the scanned notice (GGSIPU/DIA/2026/835, signed by the Director, International Affairs), which covers admission to the University School of Studies.
These are the 2026-27 dates and are labelled as the previous cycle. The university had not published the 2027-28 international brochure when this was checked on 30 September 2026.
How to apply
Download the application form in the International Students admission brochure, fill it in and send it, with scans of eligibility documents, to the Directorate of International Affairs (Room D-306, D-Block, Sector 16-C, Dwarka) and email a scanned copy to dia@ipu.ac.in. Required: proof of date of birth, mark sheets, AIU equivalence, English translations, conduct certificate, medical fitness certificate with HIV, chest X-ray and Hepatitis B tests, and later a student visa and passport.

The Dwarka campus has four hostels (two for boys, two for girls) with limited places, a health centre offering free consultations, an Indian Bank branch and 24-hour ATMs. The annual international students' meet organised by the Directorate of International Affairs lets students showcase their cultures on stage, and campus-wide events include Anugoonj, the cultural fest, and a sports meet. The nearest metro station is Dwarka Sector 14 on the Blue Line, and Dwarka Sector 21 is the nearest Airport Metro station.

Location
The main campus is in Sector 16-C, Dwarka, in west Delhi, connected by the Delhi Metro Blue Line (Dwarka Sector 14 is the nearest station). A second campus is at Surajmal Vihar in East Delhi. According to the university's brochure, Delhi summers reach 40 to 45 degrees C and winters range from about 5 to 22 degrees C.
