About Chitkara
Chitkara University is a private university in Rajpura, Punjab, on the Chandigarh-Patiala National Highway, about 30 kilometres from Chandigarh. Its website dates the institution to 2002, when it began as an engineering institute; it is recognised under Sections 2(f) and 22(1) of the UGC Act. It is a different institution from Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh.
The university is organised into named schools and colleges, including the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Chitkara Business School, the Design School, the Law School, the College of Pharmacy, the School of Health Sciences, the School of Maritime Studies and the College of Hospitality Management. For Indian applicants, the B.E. route is tied to JEE Main (or, alternatively, a higher 70% school-leaving aggregate), and fees are published semester by semester. International applicants apply through the Office of International Affairs, and all programmes are open to foreign nationals, PIO and OCI cardholders and NRIs. The university reports 2,000+ recruiters and 300+ global partner institutions on its own site; these are the university's own figures. It suits students who want a career-oriented, industry-linked degree near Chandigarh rather than a research-led one.
